Xiaomi Mi A1 launched: Price, Specifications and Availability

Xiaomi has finally unveiled their first smartphone running on pure stock Android. The Xiaomi Mi A1 is an Android One smartphone which runs on purely stock Android Nougat 7.1.2 out-of-the-box. The highlights of the phone are the dual-camera setup at the back and the software. The phone will go on sale starting September 12 exclusively via Flipkart.

Specifications

Xiaomi Mi A1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC which is an octa-core chipset clocked at 2.0GHz coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch LTPS IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels and a pixel density of 403ppi. The device comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage which is further expandable up to 128GB using a microSD card. All of this is backed by a 3,080mAh battery. The Xiaomi Mi A1 runs on stock Android Nougat 7.1.2 out of the box and will be soon updated to Android 8.0 Oreo.

On the optics front, the Mi A1 sports a 12-megapixel dual camera setup at the back with phase detection autofocus, 2x optical zoom and a dual tone LED flash. Up front, the phone comes with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling.

Price and Availability

The Xiaomi Mi A1 comes with a price tag of Rs. 14,999 and will be available exclusively via the e-commerce website Flipkart. The unit can also be purchased at Xiaomi's website or the Mi Stores. The sale of the smartphone will begin starting September 12 at 12 pm.

Xiaomi Mi 7 to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC

Xiaomi launched the Mi 6 in China a few months back. Today, there has been a report on Weibo from GizmoChina regarding the Xiaomi Mi 7. The Mi 7 will be the smartphone manufacturers next flagship device. The report states citing an industry insider that the Xiaomi Mi 7 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. The report also states that the phone will come sporting a 6-inch OLED display from Samsung.

The company is expected to launch the device in the first quarter of 2018 says the report. There previously have been reports stating that Samsung and LG will also be launching their flagship devices with the same chipset the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 around the same time.

We also know that the Xiaomi Mi 7 will come in two RAM variants, 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM. It has also been confirmed that the smartphone manufacturer will be providing a dual camera system in its next flagship smartphone. In the dual camera system, one lens will be a wide-angle lens and the other one will be a telephoto lens which will provide better depth perception.

As per previous reports the company is said to have a ceramic and glass build for the smartphone. As for the display, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will feature a 6-inch full-screen display similar to the Mi MIx. The phone as per us will have a front mounted home button with a fingerprint sensor embedded in it. As we don't think that what the leaks say is true, they point towards the fact that Xiaomi will be providing an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

As for now we suggest that you take this news with a pinch of salt as the company is yet to make any announcements regarding the smartphone officially, and till that happens next year we say that any rumours and leaks are not to be believed as is.

Apple iPhone 8 to be called iPhone X, to come with reassigned Siri key

Apple's upcoming iPhone is one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year considering it's the 10th anniversary iPhone. Apple has a launch event around the corner where they are allegedly launching the iPhone 8 alongside the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus. We have had enough leaks and rumours of the upcoming iPhone as we usually get for most of the anticipated devices.

As the date of launch is coming closer, we are getting to know more about the alleged iPhone 8. Recent reports have suggested that Apple might change the traditional way to launch Siri on the upcoming iPhones. Since the introduction of Siri with the iPhone 4s, long pressing the home button has been used to call up the voice assistant. As per the earlier leaks and rumours suggest, the upcoming iPhone will have a full-screen display with minimal bezels which will result in no physical home button.

So how will users call up Siri? Yes, the "Hey Siri" will always work, but on the physical button side, the things will be changed. Users will now be able to bring up the voice assistant using the power button which also functions to sleep or wake the device. This report regarding the change of the assigned key comes from Twitter, where Guilherme Rambo, a iOS Developer has tweeted about the change.

Meanwhile, there also have been some confusions regarding the name of the upcoming iPhone. Earlier reports suggested that the iPhone 8 will be called the iPhone Edition as it is the 10th Anniversary iPhone. Now a report from a Dutch website iCulture, suggest that the next iPhone will be called the iPhone X and not the iPhone 8 or iPhone Edition. The website claims that this report comes from a "reliable source" who works for some global telecom company.

Apple will be having a launch event on September 12 in California where the company will take the wraps off the much awaited iPhone 8. Apple is also expected to launch the iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus along with the new Apple TV 4K and the Apple Watch 3 with LTE support.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year and it has its launch somewhere around the corner now. The official date for the launch of the Xiaomi's next bezel-less smartphone has been fixed as September 11, just a day ahead of Apple's launch event. However, we have had enough leaks and rumours of the Mi Mix 2 ahead of its launch. Recently, an image leaked on Weibo, gives us a sneak peek to the side panel of the upcoming smartphone and what it will be running under the hood. Surprisingly this could be the first smartphone to run on Qualcomm's unreleased Snapdragon 836 SoC.

The images leaked on Weibo, a Chinese website, clearly shows the minimal bezels, curved display and the specifications of the smartphone.

According to the images leaked on Weibo, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 processor. The smartphone sports a 6.2-inch display with a resolution of 1440x2960 pixels. The variant leaked in the images is having 256GB of onboard storage which confirms there will be a 256GB variant of the upcoming Mi Mix 2. Powering up everything, the Mi Mix 2 comes with a massive 4,400mAh battery. The device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with MIUI 9 skin layered on top of it.

As far as the RAM is concerned, previous leaks suggest that the Mi Mix 2 will be launched in three variants, 128GB of onboard storage with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and a limited edition with 256GB inbuilt storage and 8GB of RAM.

Samsung Galaxy J7+ launched: Price, Specifications and more

Samsung has launched another mid-range smartphone in Thailand, the Samsung Galaxy J7+. This smartphone adds up to the Samsung's popular mid-range J7-series. The USP (Unique selling proposition) of the Galaxy J7+ is the dual camera setup sitting at the back of the smartphone. This is the second phone from the company to feature a dual camera setup, first being the flagship Galaxy Note 8.

Specifications

Samsung Galaxy J7+ features a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels resulting in a pixel density of 401ppi. The mid-range smartphone is powered by a 2.4GHz octa-core processor, which is neither Samsung's in-house Exynos or Qualcomm's Snapdragon. This time the company decided to go with MediaTek Helio P20 chipset, which is not mentioned on the official spec-sheet but earlier leaks and the 2.4GHz octa-core processor point towards MediaTek Helio P20. The device packs in 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage which is further expandable up to 256GB. All of this is backed by a 3,000mAh battery which is smaller than the J7 Pro and the J7 (2017).

In the camera department, the Galaxy J7+ sports a dual camera setup at the back which comprises of a 13-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel sensor. For the selfie needs, the smartphone comes with a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.

The features of the phone include Bixby, Always-on Display,  dual app support and more.

Samsung Galaxy J7+ is available in Black, Gold and Pink colour variants. The J7+ comes with a price tag of THB 12,900 (roughly Rs. 25,000).

 

Galaxy C8 another dual camera smartphone from Samsung leaked

Recently Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 8 in New York and will be soon bringing it to India. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 was the company's first smartphone to sport a dual-camera setup on the back. Now, the company has started working on various smartphones featuring the dual camera setup. As a fact we know that Samsung will be introducing the Samsung Galaxy J7 Plus with a dual camera setup as per the leaks that happened a few days back. Today another dual camera smartphone from the manufacturer leaked, the Samsung Galaxy C8.

Two promo images of the Samsung Galaxy C8 were leaked today by the website SamMobile. These images confirm that the new Samsung Galaxy C8 will feature a dual camera setup which is being speculated to be a 13-megapixel sensor + 5-megapixel sensor. The promo images also show that the phone will come with a fingerprint sensor which has become a necessity in smartphones these days.

The Samsung Galaxy C8 is being speculated to be the successor to the wildly popular Samsung Galaxy C7. The Samsung Galaxy C8 is expected to come with a 5.5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display. It is expected to be powered by a 2.3GHz octa-core processor along with 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage. All of this is speculated to be powered by a 2,850mAh battery. It will run on Google's Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.

Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro with Kirin 970 SoC to launch on October 16

Huawei today during a press event being held at IFA 2017 in Berlin announced that they will be launching the new Huawei Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro on October 16. This announcement will be made at a press event in Munich. This announcement was made by the CEO of Huawei's Consumer Business Group.

The company also announced a new processor the Kirin 970 which is based on the 10nm technology and has Artificial Intelligence embedded into it. The company also confirmed that both the smartphones will be the first ones from the company to sport this chipset along with a full-screen display.

The company previously had put the Huawei Mate 10 smartphone is one of their tweets which showcases the device to come with a dual-camera setup on the back just like the P-series.

It is being expected that the Mate 10 Pro will be much more powerful than the regular Mate 10 and not just a small incremental increase. This can be actually true as last year the company launched two Mate devices, the Mate 9 and the Mate 9 Pro, the Mate 9 Pro came with a Quad-HD curved display, much more RAM and internal storage.

The company did not reveal anything more about the new smartphones. However, now we have an exact date and the device names that the company will be launching. The Mate series has always been extremely good, however, the company has no plans currently to sell the Mate devices in India.

Xiaomi, the Chinese giant, has been in the news lately due to their upcoming events. The company is about to launch the second edition of its bezel less display smartphone. As the excitement grows for the Mi Mix 2, the company has another surprise before the Mi Mix 2 launch on September 11. On September 5, Xiaomi is said to launch its first smartphone with a stock Android experience. The phone will run on Android One stock Android 7.1.2 Nougat and will be dubbed as Xiaomi Mi A1.

The upcoming Android One smartphone from Xiaomi has been spotted on the Geekbench where it gives a sneak peak on what the device will bring under the hood. According to the benchmark listing, the phone's name is Xiaomi Mi A1 and it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. The listing claims that the phone comes with 4GB of RAM and runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat. The Xiaomi Mi A1 manages to get a score of 852 in single-core test and 3837 in multi-core test which is comparatively higher than the Mi 5X which comprises of the same hardware but runs on MIUI.
