Tablet Woes

Tablet Wars

Worldwide tablet wars, the explosion in the tablet market has been led by Android, not Apple. One of the main reason for this is affordability.

Though Apple has an impressive impression with the iPad, it is still the Android tablets that are selling like hot cakes in the tablet markets worldwide.

Android tablets come cheap; Some cost as little as $35. Most of the cheap ones are not branded and have lousy screens. In some you have to swipe or press really hard to make them respond - just like resistive screens.

In a market ruled by cheap Korean mobiles, Android is King, even in Tablets. Again, Tablets that sell the most are unbranded ones from Korea and China. Even the branded ones outsourced by companies from Korea don't live up to the mark, but the buyers seem to be content as they realize that's what they can get at that price. The performance worsens as more apps and date are loaded, and require frequent factory resets to keep them going.

Then there are 'Android' tablets which don't have Google Play support, which may indicate that the specs are so poor that it would have even not passed Google's certification process. Many don't even realize that their tablet doesn't have Google Store till it's to late and are stuck with a dud.

Another mistake people do is to buy WiFi only tablets.

There are those who have bought WiFi only tablets without WiFi either at their homes or at workplace and then desperately try to get and set-up a WiFi Modem/Router at home. WiFi only models maybe good for countries as US or those who have WiFi connections at their home or Office. If the Tablet's don't have the provision for SIM Cards atleast they should have a provision for USB modems.

Tablets are supposed to help when you are mobile, and there is no point to having one that can't connect to the net when you are outside or travelling.

BlackBerry hoping to revive

When the Chief Executive Thorsten Heins unveiled the new BlackBerry Operating System on Wednesday, he would be hoping that the launch marks the beginning of a comeback. The new Operating System BlackBerry 10 - is not only an attempt by RIM to counter the Smart Phone Market Leaders Samsung and Apple but perhaps the last throw of dice in its fight for survival. RIM's share of the global Smart Phone market has fallen from a peak of roughly 20 per cent in 2009 to about 6 per cent today. Jan Dawson, chief telecom analyst at Ovum believes that the new software platform will provide a temporary boost in performance but no salvation for RIM.

"RIM continues to face the twin demons of consumer driven buying power and a chronic inability to appeal to mature market consumers"

Microsoft Office 2013

Microsoft Office 2013

Microsoft is all set to launch its new office software the Microsoft Office 2013.

The "New Office" will be launched tonight, according to a statement made by the company on Twitter. This version will be launched in New-York and simultaneously other regions would follow suit.

Microsoft officials declined to comment on the launch when contacted. The beta version of the software was first announced in July Last Year by CEO Steve Ballmer, and comes 18 months after the launch of Office 2011 in September 2010.

STEVE BALLMER, CEO Microsoft Corp., speaks at an event in San Francisco. "Since Google and Apple are increasingly eating into Microsoft's share, the company needs to take radical steps to stay ahed.

The New Microsoft Office 2013 comes with in-touch screen capability, collaboration, social networking, cloud computing capability, and has retained access through mouse and keyboard.

Ballmer had talked about 3 new Office 365 subscription services, which need an Internet Connection and are based on a Pay per use basis. Each new subscription will include the new editions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, Outlook, Publisher and Access. This, according to company officials, is because of the changing behavior of users who prefer to access applications on a need basis rather than investing in software that they do not use. Industry watchers are of the view that since competitors Google and Apple are increasingly eating into Microsoft's Share, they need to take Radical Steps to stay ahed.

Revenues

At the end of the fiscal year 2012, Microsoft business division posted $6.29 billion in revenues, up 7%, and revenues from Windows decreased 1% to $4.15 billion, prompting the company to launch its new version of Windows 8 Operating System in October.

While Microsoft has not officially announced the price of the new Microsoft Office 2013, according to Distributors worldwide, the company may price it in the range of $140 - $400 for a home user to a professional user of the new Microsoft Office 2013. Similarly a user of Office 365 will have to pay in the price range of $5 - $99 depending on options such as monthly, yearly, or per software basis. Microsoft has maintained that the on-premise software will continue to be installed, managed and licensed on a per-device basis.

Facebook is down worldwide, seems as if the company is facing huge problems

Many Facebook users worldwide were unable to access the Social Networking Site for several hours on Tuesday. There were also reports that the site was even showing that the domain is not even registered this landed in many Domain Name selling Websites get queries on buying the Domain Name.

Facebook Messenger

The company said in a statement that the issue was not region specific and was caused by a bug in some domain name system (DNS) optimization work undertaken at the company earlier in the day. "Earlier today, we experienced a DNS issue that briefly prevented people who typed facebook.com into their browsers from reaching the website. People who accessed the site using a mobile application, typed www.facebook.com into their browsers, or used a bookmark or a search engine to navigate to the site were not affected," the company said that in a statement.

Users of the site faced similar problems that Facebook attributed to DNS issues in June and December 2012. "We resolved the issue quickly, and the fix should be fully propagated by now. We apologize for any inconvenience caused," Facebook added.

Update

The company cleared to its users that the problem has been solved and won't occur again, however, if it does the company has made such arrangements that the users won't be able to notice it as the company will shift them on a backup server and fix the problem and get the primary server back online as soon as possible.

Asus PadFone

Asus, the convertible veteran is now looking forward to make a Windows Edition of it's most revolutionary Designs!

If the rumors and unofficial statements are to be believed, a Windows 8 based PadFone will soon be under development. Sounds good in theory, but unlike Android, which runs uniformly with only minor tweaks on both smartphones, tablets, and Laptops, Windows RT is the Operating System only for Tablets, Windows Phone 8 for Smart Phones and Windows 8 Pro for Laptops and Desktops. So will this have a different customized Windows 8 Experience altogether, or just a messy love triangle of Windows 8 Pro, Windows Phone 8 and Windows RT.

We will have to wait to see that but if you have any comments then post them down below, don't hesitate, We Love Getting Response From You.
