Moto confirms which of its smartphones will be updated to Android Oreo

Google released the Android Oreo recently and the new software is making its way to many devices. The Pixel devices were the firsts to taste the new Oreo on their smartphones. Many companies revealing about which smartphones will be updated, Moto has decided to roll out the software update soon for twelve of its smartphones.

The list of devices was confirmed by Motorola on Thursday in a blog post. Sadly, Moto G4 lineup could not make its way to the listing. However, the company has not given a specific date or time as on when the devices will be getting the update.

The Android Oreo update is rolling out to the various Android smartphones gradually. The devices that run on stock Android or nearly stock Android will receive updates earlier than those which come with a custom skin on top. Companies like Motorola, Nokia, OnePlus deliver a nearly stock android experience which will help them to roll out the update before the end of 2017. Samsung, HTC, LG and other manufacturers might take some more time as they use their own custom skins.

Considering the past of Motorola, the devices should get the update pretty soon as the company usually rolls out the update just a few weeks after the release of the new Android version.

Apple reduced the battery capacity on the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus: Report

Apple, on Tuesday, launched the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus alongside the iPhone X. The smartphones are supposedly an upgrade to the already available iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The new 8 and 8 Plus bring fast wireless charging and a new glass back to make the Qi wireless charging possible. These new smartphones also come with a faster A11 Bionic chip whereas the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, come with the last years, A10 chipset.

According to the TENNA listing, the Chinese certification website, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus comes with smaller batteries when compared to the last years iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The listing was shared via a tweet by the renowned tipster Steve H. who is also known as OnLeaks. As per the tweet, the iPhone 8 comes with a 1,821mAh battery whereas the iPhone 7 packed in a 1,960mAh battery. In the case of the Plus models, the iPhone 8 Plus is backed by a 2,675mAh battery while the 7 Plus comes with a larger 2,900mAh battery.

The listing also states that the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus comes with 2GB and 3GB of RAM respectively which is similar to their predecessors iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

However, Apple has added fast charging technology to these new devices which the company claims that the smartphones can reach up to 50 percent of charge in about 30mins. Apple has also added support to wireless charging, which was a much-awaited feature in the iPhone line-up.

Also, one cannot judge the battery life of a smartphone just by looking at the battery capacity. The new A11 Bionic chip might be much more power efficient than the last year's A10 Fusion chipset. The company claims that the new chipset is 70 percent faster than the A10 chip.

The company recently launched the Kult Beyond which became the best seller on Amazon India on its first sales. The new Gladiator comes with a bigger battery and a larger display when compared to the Beyond.

Yu Mobiles India, on Thursday, has added another smartphone to their portfolio of devices. Yu is a subsidiary of Micromax India which manufactures smartphones. The company has launched the successor to the Yu Yureka calling it the Yu Yureka 2. The highlights of the smartphone include the Snapdragon 625 chipset, support to quick charge 3.0 and a massive 3,930mAh battery. The Yureka 2 will be exclusively available via Flipkart during the Big Billion Sale on September 20.

The Yu Yureka 2 features a metal body and a 2.5D curved glass up front. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. Asus India has finally launched the ZenFone 4 Selfie Series in India at a launch event held in New Delhi. The company has launched three new smartphones which focus on the Selfie craze. The base model in the Selfie series is the ZenFone 4 Selfie and the midrange being the ZenFone 4 Selfie (Dual Camera Version).

Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie and Selfie (dual camera version) share a lot in common like the 5.5-inch HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels which delivers 400 nits of brightness for outdoor readability. Both the smartphones are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset which is a 64-bit octa-core processor. Graphics on the smartphone are powered by the Adreno 505 GPU. Under the hood of these smartphones is a 3,000mAh battery. Both the smartphones run on Android Nougat with Asus's ZenUI layered on top of it out of the box. Asus, on Thursday, launched the Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie series in India. The company managed to launch three new smartphones today focusing on the selfie trend which has also become the most important aspect nowadays in the smartphone industry. The Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro is the high-end smartphone in the ZenFone 4 Selfie series.

The Asus ZenFone Selfie Pro features a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and a pixel density of 401ppi. The display has a colour gamut that is wider than 100% NTSC which makes photos, videos, and other content look as vibrant as in real life. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC which is an octa-core chipset clocked at 2.0GHz coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The Selfie Pro comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage which is further expandable via a microSD card. All of this is backed by a 3,000mAh battery which also supports fast charging. Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus coming to India on Friday

Apple launched the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus along with the iPhone X on Tuesday. Brightstar India has today announced that customers interested in buying the iPhone 8 or the iPhone 8 Plus will be able to pre-book them. The pre-bookings will open starting Friday, September 22 at their various authorized stores in North and East India. Both the phones will be available in the stores starting September 29, 2017.

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus were launched by Apple on September 12 at an event held in the Steve jobs Theater at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. Both the new iPhones feature a new glass back and come in three colour variants, namely, Space Grey, Silver and Gold. Apple touted that the glass used in these new iPhones is the most durable glass ever used in any smartphone. The iPhone 8 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD display with a resolution of 750x1334 pixels while its big brother, the iPhone 8 Plus sports a 5.5inch Retina HD display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. Both the smartphones now support wireless charging and are powered by Apple's new A11 Bionic chip which is designed to deliver great AR (Augmented Reality) experience.

Intex, India's tech giant, one Wednesday, has launched its yet another VR capable smartphone at a cheap price calling it the Intex Aqua 5.5 VR+. The unique selling proposition (USP) of the smartphone is that it brings VR capabilities at such a low price. The Intex Aqua 5.5 VR+ retails for Rs. 5,799. The smartphone also comes with a VR headset and 3D content loaded on to the device.

InFocus, on Wednesday, launched the Snap 4 and the Turbo 5 Plus in India at an event in New Delhi. Highlights of the Tubo 5 Plus being the battery while the Snap 4 comes with a dual-camera setup.

The Snap 4 features a 5.2-inch OnCell IPS display whereas the Turbo 5 Plus sports a 5.5-inch IPS display.  The Snap 4 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage which is further expandable using a microSD card. The Turbo 5 Plus packs in an octa-core MediaTek 6750 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage which is also expandable via a microSD card. Both the smartphones run on Android Nougat out-of-the-box.

Apple, on Tuesday, has finally launched the most anticipated smartphone of the year, the iPhone X. The company also unveiled the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, new Apple TV and the Apple Watch series 3. The impressive details of the new iPhone X which was also being called as "iPhone 10" include the edge-to-edge display, Face ID, Wireless charging and much more.

The Apple iPhone X flaunts the all new edge-to-edge 5.8-inch all screen Super Retina HD display. The display is of a resolution of 2436x1125pixels resulting in a pixel density of 458ppi. The smartphone runs on the latest chipset by apple, the A11 Bionic chip with 64-bit architecture coupled with M11 motion coprocessor. The new iPhone also boasts about a new type of biometric security which Apple likes to call the Face ID. The Face ID  is enabled by the TrueDepth camera for facial recognition. This new technology works even in dark lighting conditions as touted by the company. The smartphone will be running on iOS 11 straight out-of-the-box. The smartphone also comes with an interesting new feature called Animoji which gives life to the emojis. Animojis uses the new true depth camera of the new iPhone and makes the emojis enact what a person does in front of the camera.

On the optics front, the iPhone X sports a 12-megapixel dual-camera setup at the back consisting of a wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens. The wide angle lens has an aperture of f/1.8 whereas the telephoto lens has a f/2.4 aperture. The cameras at the back come with dual optical image stabilization and a quad-LED true tone flash with slow sync. Up front, the phone includes a 7-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture.

The Apple iPhone X is available in two storage variants, the 64GB and the 256GB. The 64GB storage variant is priced at USD 999 (roughly 64,000) whereas the 128GB variant goes for slightly higher at USD 1,149 which roughly converts to Rs. 73,500. The pre-orders for the iPhone X will start from  October 27 while the shippings starting from November 3.
