Samsung to soon launch an entry-level smartphone with Android Oreo (Go Edition)

The South Korean giant, Samsung is now working on to take over the budget-smartphone market. The company is reportedly planning to launch an entry-level Android Go smartphone in order to compete against smartphones like Xiaomi Redmi 5A and the 10.or D.

Samsung's upcoming entry-level smartphone will be a part of the J-series and will be called the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core. Reports suggest that the model number of the smartphone is spotted as SM-J260G.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core will be powered by an entry-level quad-core processor. The smartphone will pack in 1GB of RAM coupled with 8GB of onboard storage which will be expandable using a microSD card. Further, the smartphone might support a TFT panel up front and will be backed by a battery less than 3,000mAh in capacity.

Being an Android Go smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core is expected to run on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) operating system. This means that the smartphone will come with a nearly stock Android experience and lightweight applications in order to make the software experience smooth.

To recall, Android Go is a toned down version of the normal Android operating system. Google announced Android Oreo (Go Edition) last year at the Google I/O. The operating system is designed in such a way that it can run smoothly even on smartphones with less than 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Google also introduced Go applications like Gmail Go for the Android Go. The Go applications take up less storage on your smartphone without losing much of the functionalities.
