WhatsApp is currently one of the most popular instant messaging apps across the globe. The Meta owned app keeps on releasing new features to keep its users satisfied. Now, the company will reportedly soon allow Android users to migrate their chat history to Apple iOS devices.

According to a new report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently working on a 'move chats to iOS' feature, which will allow users to migrate their chat history from an Android smartphone to an iPhone. However, according to the shared screenshots, it seems like users will only get one chance to start the migration process, and skipping it will simply make the prompt disappear forever.

To recall, WhatsApp back in October first introduced the feature for iOS users to transfer their chats to Samsung and Google Pixel devices.

How will the feature work?

For this feature to work, users will have to download the ‘Move to iOS’ app, once the migration data is selected, the app will create a private Wi-Fi network and search for nearby Android devices. Select the one from which you want to transfer the chat history and enter the security code. After this, the transfer process will begin. Also note, you will have to keep your phones and apps unlocked and opened during the transfer.

WABetaInfo in a tweet had earlier stated, that the iOS to Android transfer feature will only be made available to users running Android 12 and later. This news was later confirmed by Head of WhatsApp, Will Cathcart, who announced that the feature is currently under development and will be coming to both phone ecosystems soon.

Apart from this, WhatsApp is currently working on developing new editing features, which will allow users to draw on images before sending them out. They will be able to pick between three pencil sizes and types. It is also working on a blur feature, which will allow users to blur out specific parts of an image before sending it.
