Top 5 reasons why not to buy the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro

Xiaomi, on Wednesday, launched the much awaited Redmi Note 5 Pro in India. The Redmi Note 5 Pro is a successor to the last year's popular Redmi Note 4. The highlights of the smartphone include the 18:9 display and the dual camera setup. Despite having such good highlights, the smartphone does lacks at few segments which can switch your decision to not buying the device. Here are the reasons why we think you should not buy the all-new Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.

1.) Software

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is launched with MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat. Android Nougat has already become quite old and even the Android P is just around the corner. Buying a smartphone that has launched in 2018, a user would expect it to come with Android Oreo. However, looking it Xiaomi's track record, the Android Oreo update will not make its way to Redmi 5 Pro anytime soon. Also, the phone comes with MIUI which is not liked by everyone. Though MIUI brings a ton of features over stock Android, the features come at a price. The additional features might slow down your device after a few months of usage.

2.) Cameras

At the launch event, interestingly enough, Xiaomi compared the cameras on the Redmi 5 Pro with that on the Google Pixel 2. The Redmi 5 Pro's cameras are not still up to the mark. They surely are improvements over the Redmi Note generations, but Xiaomi still needs to work on them a lot. Especially the camera application on the Redmi Note 5 Pro needs some improvements. The stock camera app is very basic and does not provide a manual mode. The smartphone also does not support 4K video recording which is seen on the Redmi Note 5.

3.) Charging

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset. The chipset does support the latest Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 technology. Sadly, Xiaomi has restricted the charging of the device to only 5V/2A which restricts it from taking advantage of fast charging. Notably, the smartphone also uses a micro USB port for charging and data syncing. The micro USB port is a disappointment, at least in 2018, where smartphones are switching to the latest USB Type-C standards.

4.) Hybrid SIM Slot

The all-new Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a Hybrid SIM Slot. Hybrid slots only allow either two sim cards or one sim card and a MicroSD card. So, this means if you are a Redmi Note 5 Pro users and have two sim cards, later down the road when you run out of storage you will be out of luck. You will either have to sacrifice your important files or you will have to let go of the other SIM card.

5.) Display

The display on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is just simply not up to the mark. The 18:9 display surely look modern and catches attention. However, the display is not bright enough at outdoor conditions and the colours are not punchy enough. In simple terms, the display on the Redmi Note 5 Pro is not as bad as the Redmi Note 3 but at the same time, it is not as good as the Xiaomi Mi A1.
