After the success of the JioPhone and JioPhone 2, Reliance Jio is now gearing up to launch the JioPhone 3. With the next generation of JioPhone, the company is opting in for a smartphone instead of a feature phone. The new smartphone will be launching in India sometime in June 2019.
A Jio executive told BeetelBite that the JioPhone 3 will be available with a price tag of Rs. 4,500. Notably, it is a significant price bump over the last generations. The executive further suggested that the smartphone will feature a 5-inch touchscreen display. It will come with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, which will be expandable using a microSD card.
In terms of optics, JioPhone 3 will sport a 5-megapixel camera at the back and a 2-megapixel selfie shooter up front.
The Jio executive also said that Reliance Jio will start filling up the stocks at the offline stores in July. Interested customers can pre-order their devices in the month of July and can take home their JioPhone 3 in August. The smartphone will be available for purchase via Jio stores, Reliance Digital stores and Jio’s official website.
As of now, we do not have any information on what operating system will the smartphone run on. Either it will come with a full-fledged version of KaiOS or a lighter version of Android called AndroidGo.
