Japanese electronics manufacturer, Sony unveiled their latest flagship smartphones for the year 2018. The Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact are the company'' flagship smartphones for 2018. The smartphones were unveiled at the MWC 2018 earlier this year. Recently the company opened up pre-orders of the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact. The device can be pre-ordered across Europe. What's interesting are the pre-order promotions. The company is giving away a goodie bag to all the pre-order customers. The goodie bag includes the PlayStation gaming console, PlayStation VR pack, wireless headphones, wireless speakers, and more.

What exactly comes with the Pre-orders on the Xperia XZ series?

The Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact goodie bag vary with the country. Oppo, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer launched the Oppo R15 in China today. OnePlus, another Chinese smartphone giant is a subsidiary of Oppo. This is why the Oppo R11 looked very similar to the OnePlus 5. Now with the introduction of the Oppo R15, it could mean that we already know how the OnePlus 6 will look like.

OnePlus keeps taking something from Oppo for their smartphones. OnePlus's popular dash charge technology was also drawn from Oppo which is called VOOC Charging by Oppo. Last year, OnePlus 5 and Oppo R11 shared the exact same design language. Now, we would expect that the OnePlus 6 would look a lot similar to the Oppo R15.

Starting off with the front, the Oppo R15 comes with a 6.28 inch OLED display. The display has an aspect ratio of 19:9 and has a notch up top. We have seen some renders of the upcoming OnePlus 6. The renders of the smartphone suggest that it will also come with a notch up front. This could possibly mean that the OnePlus 6 and the Oppo R15 will look similar at least from the front.

Flipping the phones, the Oppo R15 a nice back with camera setup on the top left the corner. When we look towards the OnePlus 6 render, things don't look similar here. As per the renders, the smartphone is expected to feature a glass back. The glass back could help OnePlus to bring their first smartphone with wireless charging. Also, the smartphone will sport a vertical dual camera setup at the centre.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the OnePlus 6 is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. The smartphone will feature a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x2280 pixels.

Oppo, the Chinese smartphone giant, has finally unveiled the much awaited Oppo R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition. People who have been following the news regarding the Oppo R15 might be surprised. Well, the reports suggested that the company is launching the smartphones on March 31. However, Oppo decided to opt-in for an early launch on March 19. The major highlight of the smartphone is it's 19:9 display with a notch up top.

Specifications

The Oppo R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition sport a 6.28-inch OLED display. The displays on the smartphone come with 19:9 aspect ratio and 2280×1080 pixels resolution. The Oppo R15 is powered by the MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core SoC. R15 Dream Mirror Edition, on the other hand, comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core SoC. Both the smartphones will pack in 6GB of RAM with 128GB of onboard storage.

Oppo R15 is backed by a 3,450mAh battery while the R15 Dream Mirror Edition comes with a 3,400mAh battery under the hood. Both the smartphones run on Color OS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

On the optics front, the R15 sports a 16MP+5MP dual camera setup at the back. The Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition, on the other hand, has a 16MP+20MP dual camera setup at the back. Up front, there is a 20-megapixel selfie shooter with a f/2.0 aperture on both the smartphones.

Price and Availability

Oppo has launched the R15 at a price of RMB 2,999 (approximately Rs 30,800). The smartphone is available in Snow White, Hot Red, and Star Purple colour variants. Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition comes with a price tag of RMB 3,999 (approximately Rs 41,100). The R15 Dream Mirror Edition only available in the Hot Red colour option. Both the smartphones will be available in China starting April 1.

1.) Turn off features you don't need

The first app that comes to my mind when talking about the battery is the Greenify app. Greenify has been on the Google Play store for a pretty long time. The application basically hibernates the applications you don't need. This results in more battery life and a better performance.

  • IFTTT

If This Then That is another popular application available on the Google Play store. In this application, you can create a set of rules. For example, when you walk into your home, the app will automatically turn on Wi-Fi and switch off Mobile Data.

4.) The Display

  • Brightness

Auto Brightness on your smartphone uses a sensor which can drain a lot of battery. Prefer to adjust the brightness of your smartphone manually. Also, when possible dim down the brightness so it can save some battery as well as your eyes from straining.

  • Choose Wallpapers Wisely

Android is a platform that gives the option of a lot of customisations. The operating system also offers something called Live Wallpaper. Yes, these wallpapers do look cool but at the same time, they have a huge impact on your battery. Also, if your smartphone has an AMOLED display, you should prefer to use a wallpaper with more blacks in it. A pure black wallpaper on AMOLED displays can save a lot of battery.

  • Always-on Display

Always-on Display is a really common feature nowadays especially with the smartphones having an AMOLED display. The AOD's do look cool and offer some key information at a glance but they come at a price. The price here is your battery life. Consider turning off the AOD to save some battery.

5.) Battery Saver

Most Android smartphones, stock or skinned, come with a battery saver. This Battery Saver option can be found in Settings > Battery. The battery saver mode can allow you to get a little more battery life for the emergency scenarios. You can also set it to automatically turn on once the phone's battery reaches 15 percent. Some smartphones also come with Ultra Battery Saver modes that disable most features and gives more battery life in return.

Speaking of the Batter Saver, we also recommend you to not to use any battery saver applications from the Google Play store. They do not give you any extra battery life. Rather, they drain down more battery by showing multiple types of advertisements.

Huawei has started taking pre-orders for the P20 Lite on its official Poland website. People can visit the website and then be redirected to the company's official e-commerce platform for putting in their pre-order. There have been prior reports stating that the company had already launched this variant of the Huawei P20 - P20, P20 Pro, and P20 Lite, in the Czech Republic and that all three variants of the Huawei P20 will be launched in Paris on March 27.

As per the listing on the Polish website, the Huawei P20 Lite will feature a 5.84-inch full-HD+ full-view display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. It will sport 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage. It runs on Google's Android 8.0 Oreo with the company's own EMUI 8.0 and it is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery.

As for the camera, it features a 16-megapixel primary shooter along with a 2-megapixel secondary shooter which allows the device to take photos with a depth effect. No details were listed for the front camera or which processor will the device sport.

The company is taking pre-orders from local retailers like Komputronik and MediaExpert. The device has been priced at PLN 1,599 (Approximately Rs. 30,300). However, in the Czech Republic, the price of the device is CZK 8,999 (Approximately Rs. 28,300). The device will go on sale in both the places from April 1 and will be available in Black, Blue and Pink colour variants. There is no information yet as to when the devices will be making its way into the Indian market.

Oppo, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is working on another smartphone lately. The Oppo R11 successor, the Oppo R15 is on its way. The smartphone has been in the news due to all the leaks and rumours. It seems like the time to round up all the rumours have arrived, as the smartphone is set to launch on March 31.

According to a post on a Chinese microblogging site, Weibo, Oppo will launch the R15 in China on March 31. Alongside the R15, Oppo is also said to launch the Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition. Another poster on the website claims that Zhang Yishan, the Chinese actor will be the brand ambassador for the upcoming flagship devices.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the leaks suggest the Oppo R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition will have similar specifications. Both the smartphone will feature a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2280x1080 pixels and a 19:9 aspect ratio. How to backup your Android smartphone in a few simple steps

Cloud Backup

If you have ever heard of backup on iPhone you have heard of seamless backup using the iCloud. While iCloud is limited to Apple device, Android also has a few tricks up its sleeves. With Google backup up services, you can backup almost all the data. When we say almost, we mean almost as backing up things like the call logs and SMS is still not available. Also, it's not a one-stop backup and needs several services and steps to complete it, unlike iCloud.

Google Photos

With Google photos, you can backup all your photos and videos in 1080p or lower format free for life. It is good for most of the peoples. Also, did we mention its free? Google photos are preinstalled on all Android smartphones. However, of your comes without it you can easily download it using the play store.

Once you have it downloaded and ready to go. Open the Google Photos App and using the three horizontal bars at the top, enter the menu. From the menu click Settings and then back up and sync. Once in the backup and sync settings, turn on the backup and sync switch and you are good to go. These will backup photos and videos in 1080p format. If you want to backup in a higher format, you can connect Google photos to backup on Google drive and backup in maximum quality if you like.

To do that, make sure the backup and sync are on. Then Click the upload size option and select original.

Once, the photos are backed up, you need to backup other things, like documents and more. You can do that via the Google Drive. Download and open the Google Drive app. It should be pre-installed on your device if not can be easily downloaded via the play store.

 

Once that's done, open the Google Drive App and using the three horizontal bars at the top, enter the menu. After that scroll down to Backups and click on it. Once that's done, click on start backing up and you are good to go.

Open the settings app, and scroll down to backup and reset. Open its settings and turn it on. Once that's done, select a backup account and you are good to go.

Backing up to your computer

Backing up and restoring from the cloud requires significant internet charges. Also, most online backup services have only a small amount of free backup data. So using a personal computer seems more sensible. Also, this is pretty easy to do. And also the process is pretty much the same whether you’re a Mac or PC user. Mac users will need to download and install Google's Android File Transfer app.

Once you are ready to go, connect you smartphone to your computer using the USB cable. On Windows, open the device folder and on Mac, open Android File transfer app. Then copy and paste the files from your device to your PC as you wish.

  3. Select everything you want to back up. Titainium backup allows you to backup everything starting from wifi passwords to your apps data and more.
  4. You can also choose to backup the files to Dropbox or Google Drive. This will help you if you lose your phone.
  5. You can also opt to create a recovery compatible .zip backup file. You can use this file and Titanium backup to restore to a previous point if you wish to.

How to use offline mode?

  • Download and Install Google Maps application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store
  • Fire up the Google Maps application on your smartphone
  • Swipe right or tap on the hamburger icon in the top left corner
  • Tap on Offline Maps

 

  • It will show you a list of already downloaded maps (if any). You can click on "Select Your Own Map" to select the area you want to download.

  • Pinch out to zoom out and bring more area into the box. If you want lesser area, you can pinch in to zoom in. The area you accumulate inside the blue box will be available when you are offline.

  • Once the download is complete, you can start using the Google Maps without the need of an internet connection.

By default, the application will use the internal storage of your smartphone to download the maps. You can change this by heading over to Offline Maps section and tapping on the Gear icon on the top right corner. Here you can switch your storage preference between Internal storage and SD Card.

Also, do note that you will need to keep the maps updated. According to the application, a map if not updated within 30 days will expire.

Xiaomi's new upcoming gaming smartphone Blackshark leaked with Snapdragon 845 and 8GB of RAM

Chinese Electronics manufacturer, Xiaomi is expected to launch a new phone. The upcoming expected phone by the company is an update to the Mi Mix series. While we are still waiting for the Mi Mix 2S which is slated for a March 27th launch. It looks like the company has more Snapdragon 845 phones in mind.

These new Snapdragon 845 phones will be Mi 7 and The mi Mi s for sure. Also, we have news of a gaming smartphone by the company. The smartphone is codenamed Blackshark.

Xiaomi's latest gaming smartphones has been making a lot of appearances lately. Last week it made an appearance of AnTuTu benchmark. The scores were amazing. Now the device has made an appearance on the GeekBench database. The device is dubbed as "Blackshark SKR-A0" on the listing.

The specification of the device is consistent with the results on the AnTuTu database as well as the GeekBench database. The setup is also quite similar to the Mi 7 and the Mi Mix 2S. That is Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 coupled with 8GB of RAM. The benchmark further reveals a single core score of 2,452 and a multi-core score of 8,452. These scores are surprisingly high even for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. This means the company has something else under the hood for the Blackshark.

What makes Blackshark Special?

According to the sources involved in the development of the Blackshark claim, they know why. They claim that Xiaomi is able to achieve this feat with new design techniques. This is the usage of the aviation-grade cooling solution. This keeps the CPU and GPU from thermal throttling under load. It is a known fact that all electronics perform low due to thermal throttling under load.

The recent AnTuTu listing revealed some of the device specifications. These include a 2,160x1,080 pixel resolution display. Also, the device packs Android 8.0 out of the box. The Blackshark also managed to get an AnTuTu score of 270,680.
