The new feature is currently available on WhatsApp Beta 2.18.206 for AndroidWhatsApp is now finally addressing the issue of the spreading spam links. People are spreading a lot of fake news over the cross-platform messaging app which has led to around 27 deaths in India in the past few months. The company is now testing out a feature where fake news or spam links will automatically be rated as suspicious links and will prevent users from opening such links.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has just released a new update for its Beta app. The new WhatsApp Beta 2.18.206 brings in this new tool. The new Beta 2.18.206 for Android does not bring a lot of new features, but what it brings to the table is the "suspicious link detection" feature. The feature has been spotted only on a few devices till now. However, the feature still needs a lot of work and it might take some time before it makes its way the stable build.

WABetaInfo has also shared a few screenshots of the latest Beta update. According to the screenshots. the features seem to be a neat and simple little trick. So basically, every link received on your WhatsApp messages will go through a background check first. If the link qualifies, you can simply open the link to view the content. However, if it does not qualify, the messaging application will show the link as "Suspicious Link." If you still try to open it, it will give you another warning before you proceed.

Asus Zenfone 5Z vs OnePlus 6: Five point comparison

Asus ZenFone 5Z directly competes against the OnePlus 6

Asus recently launched its flagship, the Asus ZenFone 5Z in India. The company has set the pricing in a very competitive manner in order for the smartphone to go up against the OnePlus 6. Apart from a few AI features, the OnePlus 6 is leaps and bounds ahead of the ZenFone 5Z. Comparing both the smartphones we found five reasons why you should consider the OnePlus 6 over the ZenFone 5Z.

Display

The OnePlus 6 features a 6.28-inch FullHD+ Super AMOLED display whereas the Asus ZenFone 5Z sports a 6.2-inch FullHD+ IPS LCD display. Though there is not much difference in the screen size or the resolution, the difference here is the display technology. Super AMOLED is superior to the IPS LCD panel in many ways. AMOLED panes offer deeper blacks by turning off those pixels thus giving a better viewing experience. IPS LCD has its own perks but the Super AMOLED will always stay ahead.

Software

Asus Zenfone 5Z
The OnePlus 6 runs on OxygenOS whereas the ZenFone 5Z runs on ZenUI

OnePlus 6 runs on Oxygen OS whereas the Asus ZenFone 5Z runs on ZenUI out of the box. Both the OxygenOS and ZenUI are based on Android Oreo but these custom UI's provided by the OEMs play a major role in the performance of the device. The OxygenOS is nothing but stock Android filled with a few useful features and customisation options and no bloatware whatsoever. This helps in increasing the device's performance and helps the company to provide timely updates. ZenUI, on the other hand, comes with bloatware as well as a fully customizable theme. ZenUI brings in a lot of customisation options and features but also slows down the device.

Performance

Asus Zenfone 5Z

As discussed under the software segment, the UI provided by the OEMs vastly affect the device's performance. OnePlus 6 significantly performs much better than the Asus ZenFone 5Z. Though both the phones come with the same processor and the same amount of RAM, the OxygenOS on the OnePlus 6 is optimised in such a way that it performs better than almost any Android smartphone on the planet.

Dash Charge

Dash Charge is another thing for which OnePlus is popular. OnePlus introduced the Dash Charge technology with the OnePlus 3. Since then, the technology has improved and currently, it is one of the fastest charging technology on any smartphone. With the OnePlus 6, Dash Charge, as per the company, is able to provide a full day's power in just half an hour. However, the Asus Zenfone 5Z also has fast charging technology.

Special Editions

The OnePlus 6 has a lot of special editions in its arsenal.

OnePlus keeps on adding new editions to its smartphones in order to offer people something different than usual. OnePlus with the latest OnePlus 6 launched the limited edition Avenger Edition and the Silk White variant. The company also recently introduced the Red variant which will be available in the coming days.

BlackBerry Ghost to launch in India this summer: Here's what you need to know

BlackBerry KeyOne, blackberry, blackberry ghost, specifications, price, availability, camera, launch date
BlackBerry KeyOne was launched in India last year

BlackBerry is now gearing up to launch a new flagship in India, the BlackBerry Ghost. We have had enough reports and rumours till date giving us clues on what the smartphone in look like and what it will carry under the hood. However, a recent report has confirmed that the device is launching in India this summer.

According to the renowned tipster, Evan Blass, the BlackBerry Ghost will come with a 4,000mAh battery under the hood. He also claims that the device will come with a dual-camera setup at the back which will give it optical zoom capabilities. The camera setup will have improved low light performance over the last year's flagship, KeyOne.

We started receiving reports and rumours about the Ghost back in February this year. The Ghost is said to come with a bezel-less display in order to compete against 2018's smartphones. If the rumours are to be believed, this will be the first BlackBerry smartphone to sport an 18:9 or higher aspect ratio display. Also, the 4,000mAh battery will be the biggest battery capacity ever provided by the company.

To recall, the BlackBerry KeyOne had a 3,550mAh battery which with the company's optimizations ended up giving more than a day's battery backup during our testing. So, if the company is now increasing the battery capacity with the Ghost and if similar optimisations are made, this could be one of the best battery backup smartphones of 2018.

On the software front, the BlackBerry Ghost is expected to run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The company might keep the Google operating system near to stock while adding a bunch of security features as that is what the company is known for.

Here's how Google Duplex can replace call centres in future: Report

Google Duplex can even book appointments for its users

Google Duplex was introduced back in May at the Google I/O 2018. According to a recent report by The Information, Google Duplex Voice Assistant will be used in corporate applications including call centres to solve customer queries.

A recent report also suggests that the cloud-based customer call-centre industry is rapidly growing. The industry is forecasted to reach 20.9 billion USD with the help of 20,222 companies that are already a part of this industry. Some of the companies that offer cloud-based customer call-centre services include Amazon, IBM, Microsoft, Cisco and Genesys. As this report was flashed recently, Google Duplex could play a huge role in bringing these companies to the hights they have forecasted.

As per the report by The Information, a Google spokesperson told them that the company is not actively testing out the technology with businesses. However, the business could be exploring ways to use the technology on their own. "It’s important that we get the experience right both for the people and for businesses and we’re taking a slow and measured approach as we incorporate learnings and feedback from our tests," the Google spokesperson to The Information.

If these reports come out to be a reality in the near future, it can kill a lot of jobs in such industries. The first target would be the people at call-centres. So, people in such industries should now start looking for other opportunities as Google Duplex will take their place in the near future.

For those who are not aware, Google Duplex is an extension to the Google Assistant and was announced back in May at the Google I/O 2018. The Duplex sounds just like a human and can perform some tasks for users like booking an appointment over the phone and much more.

Xbox One July update brings new FastStart feature for downloading games

Xbox One X
The Xbox One July update from Microsoft brings a lot of changes and small features along with a huge one.

Microsoft has started rolling out its Xbox One July update to all of its consumers, the key feature of which seems to be FastStart. The Xbox One FastStart feature allows users to start games that are downloading quicker. This feature was first showcased at the E3 gaming convention. It prioritises the files a game needs to start over other files that might be of use in the later part of the game. After the player starts playing the games the rest of the files keep downloading in the background.

To run this feature consumers require a net connection of at least 20Mbps according to Microsoft. For the meanwhile, this feature will only be available for a select number of titles which are available on the Xbox Game Pass. However, the company is yet to provide a list of games that will be compatible with the FastStart feature. The company has also said that they will over time increase the games on the list once the titles are updated.

FastStart is a separate feature and only supplements the pre-existing 'ready to start' feature, which allows some Xbox games to start before they are downloaded. The ready to start feature lets gamers play an initial level before the full game is available to play.

While FastStart is the key feature introduced by Microsoft in this Xbox update, it also comes with a few more tweaks here and there including its pins dashboard feature to include groups of games and apps. The groups feature lets you organise games into sections which will then sync across all your Xbox One devices. Additionally, Microsoft is also improving the search feature within the dashboard which now gives players the ability to press the Y button anywhere to bring up the search interface for apps, games, settings, and much more.

The Nokia 8110 feature phone is yet to launch in India.

Reliance today at its AGM announced that the JioPhone running on KaiOS will soon get dedicated WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube applications. The company alongside the announcement also launched the JioPhone 2, which you might want to purchase or skip. The company made it feel that this announcement was specific to the JioPhones, HMD Global's CPO, Juho Sarvikas made it very clear that it wasn't.

In a tweet, Juho stated that WhatsApp will soon be coming over to the Nokia 8110 4G, due to the fact that KaiOS as a whole is going to get the support for WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube. You can see the same in the tweet embedded below.

Though the tweet seems to be geared towards the banana phone, the Nokia 8110, it seems as if all the smartphones running on KaiOS including the Nokia 3310 will be getting these applications. Considering that there is still a huge chunk of customers that want to use a feature phone instead of a smartphone just to keep their lives simple but still crave to use a few apps like WhatsApp and YouTube, might just bring more people back to using a feature phone.

Top 5 reasons why not to buy the Reliance JioPhone 2

jio, jiophone, reliance, 4g, volte, jiophone 2, price, specifications
Reliance JioPhone 2 was announced by Mr Mukesh Ambani at the Reliance AGM 2018

Reliance, today at their AGM (Annual General Meeting) 2018 made a couple of important announcements. One of those announcements was the launch of the Reliance JioPhone 2 in India. The JioPhone 2 is a successor to the JioPhone and brings in 4G VoLTE on a feature phone. Here are the reasons why we think you should avoid this one and look for other options.

Cheap Android Smartphones available

Nowadays, great Android smartphones are available under the price bracket of Rs. 5,000. There are also a few options under the Rs. 3,000 mark and you can get a few Android phones with bundled carrier plans which can bring down the effective price of your smartphone. Basically, if you can get a full-fledged Android smartphone at a similar price point then why go in for the JioPhone 2.

App limitation

JioPhone 2 runs on the KaiOS which promises to bring a lot of apps. However, the applications are still limited and we cannot say when the company will bring more apps for the device. Also, the app support is much better on Android when compared to operating systems like KaiOS.

Limited plans

Reliance Jio offers only two plans for the JioPhone line-up, the Rs. 49 plan and the Rs. 153 plan where both come with a validity of only 28 days. The Rs. 49 pack provides 1GB of data while the users can get 42GB data with the Rs. 153 plan.

Price

The JioPhone 2 is launched at almost double the price of its predecessor. At a price of Rs. 2,999, customers can look at a wide range of smartphones available by different Chinese smartphone manufacturers.

Availability

Reliance Jio has confirmed that the JioPhone 2 will be made available starting August 15. This adds up to why you should not buy the JioPhone 2 as you will have to wait in line to get your hands on one of these.
