Huawei P20 series prices and colour variants leaked ahead of March 27 launch

Huawei is gearing up to launch a range of new smartphones. The Huawei's popular P-series are getting a refresh and the P20 series are on their way. The new P20 family will include the Huawei P20, P20 Pro and the P20 Lite. These smartphones will focus on different price segments and will come with 19:9 displays. The company is set to launch these smartphones on March 27 in Paris.

Colour Variants

Huawei P20 series have been all over the news due to the constant leaks and rumours. A recent report suggests that the Huawei P20 family will be introduced in black, blue, and pink colour varinats. However, we still do not know what the company will call these colours for the smartphones.

Pricing

Apart from the colour options, the report has also leaked the prices of the upcoming smartphones. The Huawei P20 Pro will be launched at a price of EUR 899 which roughly converts to Rs. 72,000. The P20 will come with a price tag of EUR 679 (roughly Rs. 54,000) while the P20 Lite will retail for EUR 369 (roughly Rs. 29,500).

If the prices are to be believed, the Huawei P20 Pro will compete against the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the Apple iPhone X. The P20, on the other hand, will compete against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Apple iPhone 8. The more budget-friendly P20 Lite will compete against the OnePlus 5T and the Nokia 8.

The all-new Huawei P20 series is expected to sport a 19:9 aspect ratio display up front. The P20 and P20 Pro will carry HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset under the hood. The P20 Lite being a much cheaper variant will be powered by the Kirin 659 processor.

How to download and install

Xiaomi is rolling out the software update to the above-mentioned devices via OTA (over-the-air). As soon as the update is available on your device, you will receive a notification. However, to manually check for the update, you can head over to Settings>About Phone and tap on System Updates to check for any updates available.

Once the update is available, simply download it by tapping on the download option. After the download is complete, tap on Install Now. Do note that the installation process can take some time and you will not be able to use your smartphone during the installation.

Huawei's sub-brand Honor has launched another mid-range smartphone, the Honor 7C. The Honor 7C is clearly a toned down version of the much popular Honor 7X. The highlights of the smartphone include the 18:9 display and the dual camera setup at the back.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Honor 7C is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC. Snapdragon 450 on the 7C is an octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. The smartphone features a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1440x720 pixels. The Honor 7C is launched in two variants, one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and the other with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8 out of the box. Under the hood, there is a 3,000mAh battery.

Honor has launched the Honor 7C in China starting at a price of CNY 899 (roughly Rs. 9,200) for the 32GB variant. The 64GB variant of the smartphone comes with a price tag of CNY 1,299 (roughly Rs. 13,300). The Honor 7C is available in Red, Black, Gold and Blue colour variants. The smartphone is currently available only in China and there is no word as to when the device will make its way to the other markets.

Google has announced a new feature on its popular video calling app, Google Duo. The Google Duo app now gets a new video messaging feature. With the help of this new feature, you can share some special moments of your life directly on Duo with your friends and family.

The video messaging feature allows users to send a 30-second video or voice message. This short video can then be sent to any friends or family members available on Google Duo. If you have received a video message, you can just simply tap on the user's icon in order to watch the video. Also, you can tap on "Call Now" option to call the person right after you are done watching the video.

Xiaomi global vice-president and India head Manu Kumar Jain says "We are planning to launch as many as 6 more new smartphones in India this year". If you think that's enough, wait there is more. The company is also planning to open 100 new Mi Home stores. Along with that, they are planning to release new categories of products and invest in startups. All of this will happen within the next 12 months.

Why India for Xiaomi?

The company's plans to invest heavily in India aren't that surprising. If you look at the numbers, it's the second biggest market for the company. Also, according to reports, it's the biggest smartphone consumer for the company. According to two independent research firms, the company dethroned Samsung in terms of sales numbers for the smartphone in Q4 2017. With a strong position in India, it is only sensible to expand.

According to the reports, the company's market share in India in smartphones is at 25 percent, more than Samsung's 23 percent. Why not China for Xiaomi?

The Redmi 4 started for as low as Rs 6,999 so the Redmi 5 is expected to launch at the same price.

Google celebrates Mario Day by using Mario to navigate in Google Maps

Mario is one of the most popular games of all time. Yesterday it was March 10, which when written in short as MAR10 looks like Mario. This little gesture makes the date March 10 officially the Mario Day. Google has celebrated the Mario Day by temporarily swapping the blue arrow in Google Maps with an image of Mario in a racing kart.

  1. Head over to the Google Play Store and make sure that the Google Maps application is updated to the latest version available.
  2. Fire up the Google Maps application

OnePlus has started rolling out the Android 8.1 Oreo update for the OnePlus 5. The update, however, comes with the Open Beta programme. Currently, the Android 8.1 Oreo software is a part of the OxygenOS Open Beta 6 for the OnePlus 5. The Open Beta 6 update brings a few more changes alongside the Android 8.1.
