Google now lets you mute 'reminder ads' with 'mute this ad' feature

Technology giant, Google has added a brand new feature to its application. This new feature has been added to the Mute This Ad feature. The latest feature enables users to mute Remainder Ads. The new option can be viewed in the Google Ad Settings. Also, it will sync across devices. This means that if a user mutes an ad on their smartphone, it will also be muted on their laptop as well as their other Android devices. As per a blog post by the company, the new tool will allow users to exercise more control over the ads they view along with more transparency.

What does the new feature by Google exactly do?

For understanding, the reminder ads are the kind of ads which follow a user across sites. This is done to remind them of buying the item which they looked at earlier. Even added to the cart but not bought them. Google stating an example to make it more clear said. “You visit Snow Boot Co.’s website, add a pair of boots to your shopping cart, but you don’t buy them because you want to keep looking around. The next time that you’re shopping online, Snow Boot Co. might show you ads that encourage you to come back to their site and buy those boots. Reminder ads like these can be useful, but if you aren’t shopping for Snow Boot Co.’s boots anymore, then you don’t need a reminder about them. A new control within Ads Settings will enable you to mute Snow Boot Co.’s reminder ads.”

According to Google, the new feature will soon be rolling out to company’s other services. Services like YouTube, Search, and Gmail will get the same feature in the upcoming months. Additionally, Google is also expanding controls for the ads feature which was introduced back in 2012. This news additions will allow users to mute ads that they don’t want to see anymore. The company also commented that update is based on the feedback of its users. They took the feedback of more than 5 billion users. Using that they were able to remove almost 1 million ads from their ad network last year.

Chinese electronics giant, Xiaomi unveiled their latest Mi Boxes in their home country. Namely, Mi Box 4 and Mi Box 4c were launched in China. They are company's latest Android-powered 4K HDR smart TV. Both of these new smart boxes by the company sport an AI-based UI and 4K HDR support.

The only major difference between the Mi Box 4 and the Mi Box 4c is their RAM capacity and Bluetooth. The Mi Box 4c is available at a price of CNY 249(~Rs 2,500) while the bigger Mi Box 4 is a bit more expensive. It starts at a price of CNY 349(~Rs 3,500). Both of the devices can be pre-booked right now. The devices will go on public sale on February 1st in China. Xiaomi launched the Mi Box 3 and Mi Box 3c back last year. They featured an AI-based PatchWall back in 2016. The new smart boxes are the upgraded version of those launched last year.

Both the Mi Box 4 and Mi Box 4c packs Xiaomi’s PathWall artificial intelligence based user interface. It has enhanced features. Some of these features allow the users to browse content using their voice. Basically, the users need o say what they want, and the Mi Bo will do the needful.

Features of the Mi Box 4 and 4c

The Mi Box 4 and the Mi Box 4c will also come with an ability to learn the user’s viewing habits. Using that information it will then accordingly suggest the content based on their preferences. The same feature is seen in many popular streaming sites like NetFlix. Further, the Mi Boxes further come with a feature called the Mi Remote Control. It allows the Mi Box 4 to also work with most of the smart appliances. This will lead to a better feature when smart home appliances become a lot more common.

Mi Box 4 and 4c will also come with 4K HDR video support along. They will also have support for Dolby Audio + DTS-HD audio decoder output. The research notes by Kuo was seen by MacRumors. According to MacRumors, the 6.1-inch iPhone X will be a budget option as it will feature an LCD panel instead of the OLED. This display change will bring down the price of this iPhone to 700-800 USD in the U.S. It is also being said that 70 percent of the LCD panels for this 6.1-inch iPhone X will be supplied by Japan Display.

It is also being said that the upcoming 6.1-inch iPhone X will also have a notch up top. The notch, just like the 2017 iPhone X, will contain the TrueDepth sensors and more. As the screen size is larger, it is expected to have a larger battery than the current Apple iPhone X. the smartphone might loose on some other features like 3D Touch and will come with a single camera at the back instead of a dual camera setup.

Reports also suggest that the company will launch the Mi 7 along with the Mi Max 3.

Nokia

Nokia is expected to globally launch their Nokia 6 (2018). Along with that, it may launch the Nokia 7 Plus and 4G version of Nokia 3310. Rumors suggest, that there will be at-least 4 android smartphone by the company to be launched at MWC.

So we suspect the smartphone will launch at MWC. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s 66 chipset. This implies it is a mid-range smartphone.

Others

Traditionally LG launched manny smartphones at MWC. The company has unveiled the LG G5 and the LG G6 at MWC in the past years. However, new reports say they will launch a new version of the V30. Technological Giant, Google just released a new version of Chrome. Google Chrome is the company's web browser, one of the best. In their latest version, they have added a slew of new features. One of them is the ability to mute the websites which autoplay videos. Autoplaying videos can be annoying, so Google decided to mute them forever.

The new version of the Chrome called the Chrome 64 has added this feature. The new version is available on Windows, Mac, and Linux. The update is available on all the software versions. Users can update their Chrome to make it work.

How to enable the new Chrome feature?

To enable the new feature, users first need to update their Google Chrome version. It should happen automatically. If it doesn't you will see a red options menu and in there will be the update button. Once, that's then users can enable this feature. Users need to click the "View Site Information" symbol on the left-hand edge. Users can find it with a security certificate on the "omnibar" or the address bar combined with the Google search box. There will be an option to mute a site that automatically plays videos.

This, however, replaces the previous "mute tab" feature. That feature was only temporary. Meaning that feature muted the video once. Now it will mute the videos always. This will help a lot of users and maybe bring an end to automatically playing videos.

The search engine giant is also adding High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging support to Chrome 64. This feature will be added to the browser for Windows users only. The feature will require a PC with the Fall Creators Update. Also a HDR-compatible monitor and graphics card.

Whats on the Mi Mix 2S?

There is a leaked image of the new device. The Mi Mix 2S has a front camera on the top right corner of the smartphone. This creates an effect of the notch on the top right corner of the smartphone. The back of the device is almost the same as its predecessor. It features a fingerprint scanner surrounded by a gold-plated ring. The device also retains a ceramic back on the device.

Earlier it was expected to have a top center notch just like the Phone X. But looks like the rumor has been busted with the new image leaks on the website. According to a report by GizmoChina, a tipster on Chinese social media Weibu leaked it. The tipster also says that the device will launch ahead of MWC 2018. According to the leaked images, the smartphones comes with a nearly 100 percent bezel-less display. The smartphone has even lesser bezels than the Mi Mix 2 which already had very fewer bezels. With almost 100% screen to body ratio, its the biggest screen to the body ratio.
