OnePlus 5T to skip Wireless Charging as Dash Charging is much faster, says Pete Lau

OnePlus is all geared up to launch the successor to the Oneplus 5 calling it the OnePlus 5T. Previous leaks, rumours and hints have suggested us that the upcoming OnePlus 5T will just be the OnePlus 5 with improved display and camera while internals powering up the device be the same. The smartphone is set to launch on November 16 in New York. While the fans wait for the smartphone, there are people who have a dozen of questions related to the 5T some of which include the query about Wireless Charging and the 3.5mm Jack.

OnePlus 5T inviteOnePlus recently confirmed that the 5T will retain the beloved 3.5mm Audio Jack. Now the questions come up about the Wireless Charging. Most companies are selling their flagship devices with support to wireless charging including Apple. OnePlus still not implemented the wireless charging technology and people wanted to hear the reason. Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, recently in a blog post revealed the reasons for skipping the much wanted wireless charging.

Lau claims, "Wired quick charging solutions like ours clearly outshine wireless on quantitative measures. Just plug your device in, and Dash Charge produces 20 watts of power, reliably giving a day’s power in half an hour." Giving another reason for skipping the wireless charging, he added, "Dash Charge gives you enough power for the day with just one charging session. All you need is the Dash Charge cable and adaptor to consistently power your device at a superior rate. It doesn't matter whether you're gaming or streaming video. Dash Charge stays cool and power efficient."

To sum up, Pete Lau encourages the OnePlus users to use the Dash Charge technology as it is one of the fastest charging technology found on any smartphone. Wireless Charging can give convenience, but it cannot charge at the same charging speeds as found on Dash Charge.

How to transfer your contacts from your Android smartphone to an iPhone

Few people fall in love with the Android operating system as it gives a lot of customizations while others tend to get attracted by the Apple eco-system due to the simplicity and the way devices interact with each other. So now if you are bored of using an Android smartphone or just wanna move to iOS for a change you will need to carry your important stuff with you. Here are various methods and a step-by-step guide on how you can easily transfer your contacts to your new iPhone.

Method 1 - Move to iOS App

Apple launched the Move to iOS application on the Google Play store which makes it easier for people to shift contacts, media and other data from their old Android smartphone to their new iPhone. This method is the easiest as you will just need to follow the on-screen instructions given by the application. This works when you are setting up a new iPhone and while doing the whole setup process on the new iPhone.

  • Download and Install the Move to iOS app from the Google Play Store on your Android smartphone
  • Open the application and follow the on-screen instructions to successfully transfer your data

Method 2 - Google

This method is a bit more complicated than the Move to iOS app method as it requires setting up both the devices for the process. However, this is one of the easiest methods as it does not require any computer or iTunes. First of all, you will need to check whether your contacts are in sync with google or not on your Android.

  • Pick up your Android smartphone
  • Head over to Settings > Accounts > Google
  • Select the account you are using (if asked)
  • Make sure the Contacts is turned on and everything else you want to sync

Now you need to pick up your iPhone and sync it with the same Google account.

  • Go to Settings on your iPhone
  • Scroll down to Mail, Contacts, Calendars and tap on it
  • At the bottom of the list, tap the Add Account option
  • Here add the same Google account you used on your Android smartphone

Once you are done with the whole setup process of the new account, the iPhone will start syncing to the Google account. You will have to wait for sometime as the time the sync process will take depends on your internet connection and the number of contacts you have. It is recommended that you wait for at least 30mins for the sync to get complete.

Twitter, for the first time, increases the character limit except for few languages

Twitter, the popular social networking service, has finally increased its character limit. The website earlier had a limit of 140 characters and it has now been doubled up to 280 characters. However, users tweeting in certain languages like Chinese, Japanese and Korean will be restricted to the same old 140 characters limit as those languages use fewer characters.

The website made a tweet stating, "We're expanding the character limit! We want it to be easier and faster for everyone to express themselves."

The social networking site claims that 9 percent of the tweets made in English hit the 140 character limit. Twitter believes that increasing the character limit will be helpful in getting more people to tweet and will ultimately help it to increase its user base. Twitter has also stopped counting polls, photos, videos and other things toward the limit in order to fit in more characters into that single tweet.

Aliza Rosen, Product Manager said in a blog post that the test showed most people still used 140 characters or fewer, suggesting the fast-moving nature of Twitter will not change.

"Our goal was to make this possible while ensuring we keep the speed and brevity that makes Twitter, Twitter," Rosen said. "We're excited to share we’ve achieved this goal and are rolling the change out to all languages where cramming was an issue," he further added.

Originally Twitter started the character limit so that the tweets can easily fit into a text message. People earlier used text messages to receive tweets and 140 characters were easy to send in one go. The company finally decided to increase the limit as now most people use the mobile app instead of the old-fashioned text messages.
