Lenovo launches PHAB2 Pro – World’s First Tango-Enabled Smartphone in India

  • The PHAB2 Pro offers unprecedented augmented reality experiences on a smartphone
  • The premium smartphone is available exclusively on Flipkart for INR 29,990/-

Lenovo, launched the much anticipated PHAB2 Pro – the world’s first Tango-enabled AR smartphone in India.

Lenovo Phab2 Pro

Unlike any other phone, the PHAB2 Pro is powered by Google’s Tango technology – a set of sensors and software that detects and maps surroundings to enable a host of cutting-edge smartphone augmented reality (AR) experiences possible. For example, using AR apps, students can place true-to-scale virtual dinosaurs in their classrooms and enhance their learning through AR data overlays that appear while they walk around the creatures. AR gaming experiences let you play virtual dominos on your kitchen table, raise a digital pet in your bedroom and fight back swarms of aliens invading your house. With Tango technology, the PHAB2 Pro can even begin to change the way people think about mapping indoor spaces to create new experiences like future augmented reality museum tours, home improvement, interior decoration and more. With a nascent technology like Tango, the PHAB2 Pro offers unprecedented smartphone experiences that will continually learn and improve according to evolving user needs.

“Lenovo has always been at the forefront of innovation bringing differentiated products to consumers. With the introduction of PHAB2 Pro, a first-of-its-kind device in its category, Lenovo aims to revolutionise the way smartphones are used.” said Bhaskar Choudhuri, Director – Marketing, Lenovo India. “Our approach to innovation is to ensure we’re constantly evolving and understanding how technology can be infused in everyday lives of consumers. We believe that the PHAB2 Pro is truly a game-changer that will seamlessly integrate into varied lifestyles.”

Unbelievably priced at INR 29,990/-, Lenovo PHAB2 Pro will be available exclusively on Flipkart in Champagne Gold colour.

The Technology behind Tango

Three core technologies bring Tango experiences to life: motion tracking, depth perception and area learning. Through motion tracking, the PHAB2 Pro’s “eye” sees its own location in 3D. Area learning tells the smartphone its location. Depth perception lets the device analyze the shape of the world around it by detecting surfaces and obstacles. And now for the first time ever, your smartphone can visualize and understand its surrounding objects and environment via sensors that capture more than 250,000 measurements a second.

Premium Smartphone Design

While Tango makes the PHAB2 Pro unique, the device stands on its own as a premium smartphone. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor and comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage expandable up to 128GB. The Snapdragon 652 processor brings efficient hardware integration and processing, leading 4G LTE connectivity, and cutting-edge time stamping and camera and sensor processing capabilities.  Demanding computer vision processing is performed by a single, integrated and highly efficient Snapdragon processor with a tightly integrated suite of key modules including a DSP, ISP and integrated sensor hub. The Snapdragon heterogeneous computing platform is optimally balanced for a Tango workload and is designed for all-day use. The processor also quickly processes and time stamps all the rich sensor data simultaneously received from multiple camera sensors, gyro and accelerometer, resulting in a fast, smooth augmented reality experience, where 3D AR graphic overlays track more naturally to the physical surroundings.

Lenovo Phab2 Pro

The PHAB2 Pro features Dolby Audio Capture 5.1 with Dolby Atmos playback capabilities to help capture life’s moments on video with great quality audio. With Dolby Audio Capture 5.1, you can use crystal-clear 5.1-channel surround sound to record and share the full panorama of your life, adding amazing richness, clarity and depth to your special moments. Making this possible are three microphones, spatial capture with noise reduction, along with an onboard 16mp camera that supports crisp video recording. Also, when you watch Dolby Atmos content over headphones, you’ll feel like you’re in the middle of the action on screen with immersive, moving audio. The 16.2 cm (6.4) PHAB2 Pro boasts an intelligent Assertive Display with a pin-sharp QHD (2,560 x 1,440) resolution, capable of optimizing image quality based on ambient lighting and content.

Pricing and Availability

Lenovo PHAB2 Pro is priced INR 29,990/- and will be sold online exclusively on Flipkart from January 20, 2017.

Motorola Moto Z2

Motorola Moto Z2 Leaks

Motorola in some time will be launching the Moto Z 2nd Generation AKA the Moto Z2 in the market and we surely saw one with a reviewer read to know more.

Moto Z 2

You would ask how do we know? well to be truly honest with you we were at an event and saw the smartphone with a person who was clicking images with the smartphone. When we enquired about the smartphone the person was a bit adamant, but with our consistent poking he gave in.

Here is what all we got to know about the smartphone that is the Moto Z2.

Though the phone was in a completely black case which was screwed together shut the design is similar to the Moto Z that is currently selling in the market.

All we know about the Moto Z2

The Motorola Moto Z2 consists of a dual camera setup in similar housing as found on the Moto Z. The dual camera setup includes 2 cameras which have a resolution of 23MP X 23MP. Which we think gives great results in the images, we were able to view the images that the person was taking at the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 event in delhi.

The Moto Z2 comes pre-installed with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box as we could see.

moto z2

Though we couldn't Find out the capacity of the phone, RAM, battery as the person was in a hurry.

The phone was covered with a rugged black case so as to no one could see, with a slot cut out with a silver plate with some numbers written on it.

Now we see every manufacturer trying to make a dual camera phone. Let's hope Motorola gets it right with the Moto Z2.

To be truly honest we thought that the Moto Z was completely a one off thing. But we guess Motorola wants to continue to build the Modular phone lineup. Though the dual camera is awesome. I surely do wonder what will it do to the separate Hasselblad Mod that came out with the first Moto Z.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Review

Xiaomi ruled the budget smartphone space in the country which is also the highest selling device in India, the Redmi Note 3. But technology is fast changing and it has changed for better. As on January 19th,2017 there is a new successor in town as Xiaomi has launched The new note, Redmi Note 4.

Redmi Note 4

Detailed Review

redmi note 4

Last Redmi Note was such a hit that the company announced that they have earned $3Billion from India. So the new device had to fill quite gigantic shoes, but they simply could strike another home run like the Redmi Note 3.
Xiaomi is still it's own worst nightmare, You can launch a phone every six months, but how do you truly “upgrade” your older models. You’re not just competing against your competitors, but also yourself. Yet, not taking anything away the Note 4 is a very solid device.

Build and Design

There is not a significant amount of change when we look at the design space. The blueprint is mainly the same to that of the Note 3 but the Note 4 has slight curves on the back, similar to Mi5. These curves help the Note 4 to give its own look and feel as well. The Note 4 is slightly taller and wider than Note 3.

Redmi Note 4

The metal is much sturdier than before and feel better in hand and makes the feel of the device more premium, and the front, of course, has a 2.5D Glass making the display look just a tad bit better than the predecessor.
Overall Xiaomi hasn't put much into the Design part of the device but you will be able to tell apart two devices if kept together.

Display

The Note 4 inherits the excellent FDH display panel from the Note 3. Colors are striking and vivid but like the Note 3, the display is dim and the Auto - brightness gets very easily confused with the surroundings. Sunlight visibility is substandard, the phone often misconstrues ambient light, being too bright, when in dark or too dim, when outside.
All in all, you are better off handling it manually.
Lenovo Phab 2 Plus Performance
Overall, we get a vibrant display with more warmer feel, reasonably wide color gamut and a display with great touch which feels quite prime.

Performance

This is where most change has arrived for the Note 4, Xiaomi shifted from a powerful Snapdragon 650 processor to the brand new more efficient Snapdragon 625 processor, which is the first processor with the 14nm LPP FinFET technology, which is 20% more power efficient than the Snapdragon 650. The company did the same to increase the battery life of the Note 4, but that is where the issue exists, the battery of the Note 3 was already excellent and only a 20% increase in battery with the sacrifice of raw power from the Snapdragon 650 seems unnecessary.
Redmi Note 4 performance
But on its own, the Redmi Note 4 is decently fast and snappy there was very little stutter when heavy gaming, which isn't particularly detrimental to gameplay, but it is not ideal either. We won't be complaining about it this much if Xiaomi wouldn't have set such high target for their successor to achieve.

Camera

The one department where Redmi Note 3 failed to impress and was highly criticized was its camera department, this year the company has mainly focused on the camera for the Note 4, which is sure an improvement on the redmi Note 3 but it yet lags against other products namely the Honor 6X or the Coolpad Cool 1 both of which have a dual - camera setup on the back of respective devices. Better yet the Redmi Note 4 does more than a decent job in well-lit situations but lacks in low light conditions and struggles to focus on close by objects because of lack of laser auto focus.
Redmi Note 4 Camera
Redmi Note 4 comes equipped with a 13MP camera on the back, with f/2.0 aperture and 4mm focal length. The colors are warmer, even sharper and have more detail than before.
Redmi Note 4 Camera

Battery

Note 4 has a slightly bigger 4100 mAh lithium - ion polymer battery than the Note 3's 4050 mAh battery, and also the Snapdragon 625 processor helps to increase the battery backup by 20-25%.
The battery on the device can easily last a full day without breaking a sweat. You get around 5 hours longer battery life than the Redmi Note 3.
The phone does indeed support fast charging which is great but does not have a Type - C charging port.

Bottomline

The Redmi Note 4 has a snappy processor, lots of RAM, improved camera and a beautiful display and does the work for every kind of user in the market. However, it does not set the market on fire or set new standards for other companies in under 15k price smartphone market. But the device does not disappoint in any way, and the new Matte Black colour looks absolutely dream to look at.
Lenovo Phab 2 Plus Camera

PROS

Vibrant Display
Long Battery Life
2.5 D Glass
Pricing
New color offering (Matte Black)

CONS

Camera isn't at par with competition

Design is not altered much

Verdict

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is an all - rounder offering for everyone, improving in every way. But that also means it is not reforming the spectrum. Xiaomi has got the pricing right again.
If a camera is what you look for on your device, shell out a bit more cash and go for the Coolpad Cool 1.

Trust us, we pushed the battery beyond its limits for testing purposes and got phenomenal results. The battery easily lasted for the day even with heavy usage and gaming. And, it was also a blast using this device as even if you were running out of charge you could easily go and plug the device and get 100% charge in 2-3 hours on the stock charger.

We tested game performance with multiple games and they ran smooth as a hot knife through butter.

The battery due to being so big we weren't worried about the phone running out of battery during the day. The battery gave us around 2 and a half days worth of usage on a single charge. The phone performed well overall there was no signal drops, the call quality was great, the dual camera setup was amazing, our only gripe with the phone was that it is a bit on the larger side that a few people might not like.

Customizing a Computer?

Customizing a Computer? Here's What You Need

If you use your computer to surf the web, organize your pictures, and watch Netflix, you probably don’t need to build a custom computer from the ground up. However, if you want to use a computer to edit a film, mix your first album, solve physics problems, or game to your heart’s content, then a custom-built computer may be just what you need.

Customizing a Computer

Building a computer can be a complicated process. However, it can also be very rewarding since you get to create a unique computer designed to perform exactly as you want it to. According to PC Magazine, “If you want the strongest, most adaptable, and most upgradeable PC, you should build it yourself.”

So, what do you need to put together a custom computer that works from you? From essential components, CPU choices, and cooling solutions that keep your computer running efficiently, we’ll go over some points to consider before you start building.

If You Build It, Start With a Plan

Before you begin purchasing your CPU, motherboard, memory, graphics cards, computer cooling fans, and all the other components required to build your custom PC you need to understand how you’ll use it. For example, if you plan to use your computer to record and mix music, you won’t need to invest in a graphics card, that may be state-of-the-art but is likely beyond your budget.

The best way to build a custom computer is to begin with a plan. Decide how you’ll use it and what tasks you’ll need it to complete. Once you’ve decided what you want to accomplish, you’ll also need to set a budget.

Keep it Cool

Because you’re investing considerable time, energy, and resources into your custom computer you want to ensure that it runs at peak efficiency. Properly cooling your computer case or cabinet not only keeps your computer running at full capacity it can extend the life of your device through proper temperature control.

Intake and Exhaust

Airflow is important when customizing a computer. You need to provide air intake and air exhaust. It’s really a simple formula—cold air in, hot air out. Depending on what components you put in your computer, you’ll need to provide ample airflow to keep all of your electronics running cool and efficiently.

Sometimes, you may run your computer hotter than recommended. To compensate for the excess heat, you’ll need to provide negative pressure. That simply means more exhaust and less intake. Positive pressure means more air is flowing in than out. As you can imagine, this can lead to stagnant air and in some cases overheating.

Intake and exhaust are especially important if you build a computer in a cabinet. Cabinet cooling typically requires greater airflow with more precision in temperature control. For reference, these larger housing units are ideal for large custom computers and A/V devices.

Make it Yours

Computer FanThe best part about building a custom computer is your ability to completely customize a machine in a way you simply can’t with a store-bought device.

With so many options for customization, you’re sure to create a computer that suits your needs and fits your style. Consider adding LED fans to keep your computer cool in more ways than one.

Building a custom computer allows you to create the perfect PC for your needs. Make sure you properly research all your options before you buy, and don’t forget to keep your new custom PC cool with the right cooling fan solutions.

ASUS ZENFONE 3 MAX IN-DEPTH REVIEW

Plugging in your phone because its low on battery is a sight which we seen a lot these days. As a result Asus unveiled the Zenfone Max and shortly thereafter the updated Zenfone Max. Diversifying the Zenfone Max range Asus launched the Zenfone 3 Max(ZC520TL) and Zenfone 3 Max(ZC553KL).

Zenfone 3 Max(ZC553KL)

The Zenfone Max was a great device but a long lasting battery life but was a budget device therefore lacking in performance. The Zenfone 3 Max is made in aiming the mid-segment devices rather the old Zenfone Max aimes at the budget segment. We recently reviewed the Zenfone 3 and the Zenfone 3 laser and both were great devices. The expectations were high with the Zenfone 3 max. Can it live upto the mark?

Zenfone 3 Max

Design

With the 2.5D glass on the front, all metal back the Zenfone 3 Max surely feels premium in the hand. The device measures 151.4 x 76.2 x 8.3 mm and weighs almost 175 grams. Zenfone 3 Max has a 5.5 inch display yet comfortable to hold in hand Zenfone 3 Max has a good design.

In the front above the screen there is the front speaker grill with a secondary camera on it's left and a sensors on it's right. Below the screen there are the usual back, home and recents capacitive buttons(not backlit). The device has very less bezels which make the 5.5-inch display(73% body:screen ratio) look small than usual.

The back of the has two horizontal bars running on the top and bottom. There is a camera in the middle at the top with dual tone flash on the left and a laser autofocus on the right. The fingerprint sensor just below the camera in addition to the "ASUS" branding on the bottom.

On the right there are the volume rockers with a power button following them. On the left there is a a slot for the dual hybrid sim card tray. Which is one sim card slot and one hybrid sim card/micro-sd slot. On the top there is a headphone jack and a secondary microphone. On the bottom there is a micro-usb charger slot with speakers and a microphone.

The design is consistent with the Zenfone 3 series. Overall the phone looks great and feels great. The device is a bit chunkier looks wise which is due to the battery it holds. We got the Silver color but the device is also available in Gray, Pink and the Gold.

Software

The device runs on the Android 6.0.1(Marshmellow) with the Asus's Zen-UI  skin on the top. The software is pretty good with a bundle of Asus's apps makes the UI better rather than slowing it down. The device has cold screen access as a result double tap to wake and app launch shortcuts improve the quality of the UI. Along with the features like flip to silence and a applock built right in the core, Zen UI is probably one of the top UI in the Android domain. There is not much needed to say about the Zen-UI. Its feature loaded and overall experience is truly amazing. Moreover, the device was made with a battery to last therefore there are certain apps for the power management and optimization which serves as a cherry on top of a cake.

Performance

The performance is a major area of concern in any device. The device was made for long lasting battery therefore ?
high performance wasn't expected. To our surprise the device was performs equally well as it lasts. The device comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 coupled with Adreno 430 and 3GB of RAM. The device was able to run all day to day tasks pretty smooth as well as didn't lag while gaming.

We ran our usual AnTuTu Benchmark and the device gave us a score of 44,189. There was a little throttling recorded but that was negligible.

We also ran an all time favorite Asphalt 8 and the performance was pretty amazing. The device didn't lagged a bit and the game ran smoothly.

The fingerprint sensor is fast and could store up to five fingerprints at a time. The device can also be unlocked with the help of the fingerprint sensor when the screen is off too.

Display

Zenfone 3 Max With Box

The device has a amazing 5.5-inch(1080x1920) full HD display with okay sunlight readability and glove mode i.e. can be used with gloves. The colors were vivid and vibrant. The device has a 180-degree viewing angle. All in all the display was good.

Camera

The Zenfone 3 Max has a 16 MP, f/2.0 MP primary camera and a 8 MP, f/2.2 front snapper. The camera app has a nice easy to understand interface. Users can choose between Manual, HDR Pro, Beautification, Super Resolution, Low-light, QR Code, Night, Depth of field, Effect, Selfie, GIF animation, Panorama, Miniature, Time rewind, Slow motion, or Time Lapse modes. All these modes are also found in the Zenphone 3 also and are believed to be present in the Zenfone 3 Range.

The close up shots were pretty good. The 16MP back camera lives upto its mark. There is a laser focus module at the back, but it isn't as good as the Zenfone 3 laser. The front camera is equally good. The beautification mode is good for someone who is fond of clicking their own pictures.

The low light mode wasn't that good. The camera of the Zenfone 3 Max is not its strongest point but it still pretty good. Can say exceeded our expectations.

Connectivity Storage Battery life

The device comes with standard connectivity module, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and Glonass. The Zenfone 3 max also supports 4G VoLTE and USB OTG. The OTG cable came with the box. The Zenfone 3 Max like the other Zenfone Max series has the ability to charge other devices. To do the same connect your phone to the Zenfone 3 Max using the OTG provided in the box.

The 4100 mAh battery lasted more than a day with heavy usage including gaming and multiple Antutu Benchmarks, usage of full brightness ,location enabled you get the idea. On a average usage the device lasted a little more 2 days. The VoLTE seemed out to be consuming a heavy percentage of the battery. Without the VoLTE enable the device ran almost 3 days on average usage. The device however doesn't support fast charging but with the 2 Amp charger provided in the box it took around 3 hours to charge up the device. Considering a heavy 4100mAh battery this was pretty good. The speakers are loud enough and also the in-ear earphones provided were decent for distortion free music. The outdoor mode boosted the sound and the decrease in the quality wasn't that much.

The one thing we would like to point out was the software bug in the device regarding the VoLTE. There is a persistent "Device is HD capable" notification and the performance on VoLTE is very poor as a result draining a lot of battery. This is a bug in Android itself which affects some of Android 6.0 devices. It is supposed to be fixed by Google but it would be great it Asus fixed  it.

Why upgrade?

The Zenfone Max is available at a price of ₹9,999 and packs a little less on performance but more on battery. The point being is it worth it spending ₹7,000 more for better performance in a phone most noteworthy of its battery . Finally it's up to the user. The updated design and the performance bump is surely worth the price. We would recommend the Zenfone 3 Max as 2 years in the future, what's good a battery backup if device can't perform with the latest standards. Therefore if you are looking for a long term phone invest in the Zenfone 3 Max.

Conclusion

The device was initially launched at a price of ₹18,999 but is now available at a price of ₹16,999. Surely the Gionee's Marathon series have a bigger battery than the Zenfone 3 Max but their performance is not comparable with the  Zenfone 3 Max. With all the hardware and the Zenfone 3 Max not only has a superb battery life but also good performance. It's a complete package. The device is perfect for the people who are out most of the time or rather don't like plugging in their phones all the time.

Espoo, Finland – 8 January 2017: After securing the exclusive Nokia brand licensing rights in mobile phones in late 2016, HMD Global Oy (“HMD”) is proud to announce the launch of its Nokia 6 smartphone in China. The Nokia 6 marks the first step in HMD’s ambition to set a new standard in design, material quality and manufacturing innovation across every tier of its products by building on the hallmarks of a true Nokia phone experience. The device, which is designed explicitly with the needs of users in mind, combines quality and in-built durability to deliver a real-life premium smartphone experience at a price point for the highly aspirational Chinese consumer.

Nokia 6

The decision by HMD to launch its first Android smartphone into China is a reflection of the desire to meet the real world needs of consumers in different markets around the world. With over 552 million smartphone users in China in 2016, a figure that is predicted to grow to more than 593 million users by 20171, it is a strategically important market where premium design and quality is highly valued by consumers.

With the arrival of Nokia 6, consumers will see superior craftsmanship and design quality in action. It takes 55 minutes to machine a single Nokia 6 from a solid block of 6000 series aluminium. It then receives two separate anodising processes, taking over ten hours to complete, with each phone being polished no less than five times. The end result is an aluminium unibody with the highest level of visual and structural quality.

Delivering quality to the core, the Nokia 6 display has a bright hybrid in-cell 5.5” screen with full HD resolution and incredible colour reproduction wrapped in 2.5D Gorilla Glass. The display stack is laminated together with a polarizer layer enabling excellent sunlight readability and slim form. The build is completed with the latest generation Qualcomm Snapdragon™ 430 processor with X6 LTE modem designed for excellent battery life and superior graphics performance.

Nokia 6

The Nokia 6 has 4GB RAM and 64GB storage with which to run the latest version of Android Nougat and is packed with entertainment to bring to life the latest that Android has to offer. The dual amplifiers deliver a 6dB louder sound than a regular amp, giving higher voice, deeper bass and unmatched clarity. Dolby Atmos creates powerful, moving audio that seems to flow all around users. The Nokia 6 packs a 16MP phase detection autofocus rear camera for sharp detailed pictures, and an 8MP front camera. The f/2.0 aperture lenses and exclusive camera UI with automatic scene detection make it easy to take great shots every time.
