YouTube Music will soon be able to play songs from your local library

YouTube Music
YouTube Music for Android now allows users to play songs from the local library.

Since the introduction of Spotify and YouTube Music in the Indian market, the competition in the music streaming world has taken some pace. Some of the music-streaming services like Gaana, allow users to play songs from their local library as well, which helps in creating a seamless playlist. Now, YouTube Music is also introducing a similar feature soon.

According to a recent report by 9to5 Google, the feature has been spotted by some of the Android users. After updating the application, the users get prompted to open the Library Tab and then received a prompt asking them to “Allow YouTube Music to access and play music files.”

Once the user grants permission, Playlists, Albums, Songs, and Artists get a new “Device files.” However, this works quite differently when compared to other music streaming services like Gaana. YouTube Music, for now, only allows the users to play these songs on their own and it does not allow the user to add them in a playlist or queue with the YouTube Music.

Also, it is quite obvious that the songs played from the local library gets a totally different user interface (UI). The regular like and dislike buttons are removed and even the ability to switch between video and music only is lost. The feature is currently being tested only on Android devices and it should soon make its way to iOS.

Spotify to soon bring voice-enabled advertisements: Here's what it means

Spotify India
Spotify to now come up with voice-enabled ads.

Music streaming services are getting quite popular especially in countries like India, since the introduction of YouTube Music and Spotify. With more than 200 million customers on board, latter recently crossed the 100 million mark for its number of premium users. However, more than half of the total consumers still use the free service.

So, the company has to keep coming up with creative ideas to monetise the application. The free version occasionally gets ads between songs. Now, with a new feature called, voice-enabled ads, the company is planning to step up the game. The feature is currently in an early conceptual or beta stage.

Spotify traditionally showcases voice and visual advertisements within the app. With the new voice-enabled ads, the users will first start hearing the ad and if they engage enough in those few seconds, they can give a voice command to play the further information about the advertisement.

The feature is more complicated than it sounds. The company needs to craft the experience in a way that it does not provoke a negative response on the application. Spotify has already started testing out the feature with very few numbers of free users in the US. Once, the feature is ready for the masses, it will bring it to iOS and Android mobile platforms.

With this Spotify will also be able to drag more advertisers when compared to other music streaming services like YouTube Music. This feature has the potential to change the future of the advertisements.

Here’s everything we know about Realme X: launch date, price and specifications

Realme X
Realme X is the company's upcoming flagship.

Realme will be holding an event in its home country, China on May 15. At the event the company is expected to launch its upcoming flagship smartphone, Realme X. This will be the company’s most expensive smartphone till date and is expected to be launched in other countries including India soon after its China launch.

Here is a list of all the things we currently know about the upcoming Realme X smartphone from a pop-up camera to the Snapdragon 730 processor.

Realme X: Price

The flagship smartphone is expected to be priced at Yuan 1,599 (approximately Rs 16,500) for the base variant, whereas, the top end variant will be priced at Yuan 1,999 (approximately Rs 20,000).

Some reports do claims that the company will also be releasing a Pro variant of the device powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor at the event, however, we expect the company to launch that variant of the device at a later date.

Motorised Pop-up front camera module

Realme is owned by BBK Electronics, the company that also owns other popular smartphone brands including Vivo, Oppo and OnePlus. Oppo and Vivo already have smartphones featuring a motorised pop-up selfie camera, whereas OnePlus is expected to launch its OnePlus 7 Pro smartphone with a pop-up selfie camera on May 14, globally.

Considering all of this it is easy to believe all the reports that point towards, the upcoming Realme X having a motorised pop-up selfie camera. The camera, according to all the reports will be positioned in the middle like the Oppo F11 Pro.

Full-screen display, In-display fingerprint scanner

Thanks to the motorised pop-up selfie camera, the Realme X is being reported to come with a 6.5-inch bezel-less AMOLED display. The device will feature a similar display to the one seen on the Vivo V15 Pro.

The device also does not sport a capacitive fingerprint scanner on the back, which means that it will most probably come with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Which also explains the addition of an AMOLED display panel instead of using a much cheaper LCD panel.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor

Qualcomm recently launched its new Snapdragon 730 and 730G processors, which focus on gaming, photography and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Various reports state that the company’s new flagship, Realme X will be focused on gaming and will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor.
