Apple iPhone SE vs Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite: Which is the better phone under Rs 45,000

Apple, Samsung, Apple iPhone SE vs Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite, iPhone SE vs Galaxy S10 Lite, iPhone SE, iPhone SE 2020, iPhone SE vs Galaxy S10 Lite, Galaxy S10 Lite price in India, iPhone SE price in India
Here's how the new Apple iPhone SE compares to the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite in terms of specifications.

Apple recently launched its new iPhone SE and it's just an updated iPhone 8, due to which it lacks a lot of the features present in the iPhone 11, but does come with an updated processor, camera and more. It is priced at Rs 42,500 for the base variant in India. At this price point, it might seem like a no-brainer to a number of people. However, Samsung has also recently launched its Galaxy S10 Lite smartphone around the same price bracket, and it is a fierce competitor.

Apple iPhone SE price: starts at Rs. 42,500 [Black, White, (PRODUCT) RED]

Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite price: starts at Rs. 42,000 [Prism Blue, Prism Black, Prism White]

Apple iPhone SE vs Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite: Design

The iPhone SE looks like Apple decided to pick up the spare parts of the iPhone 8 and decided to repurpose them. This means that after a long time you will be able to get a fingerprint sensor along with chunky bezels on the latest iPhone.

Whereas, the Galaxy S10 Lite features a much modern look with a full-screen display and a hole-punch camera. It also comes with a fingerprint sensor, however, because it has near to no bezels, the fingerprint sensor is integrated inside of the display.

Coming to the sizes of the devices, they are extremely different, The Galaxy S10 Lite sports a 6.7-inch display, which would easily engulf the 4.7-inch display of the iPhone SE. Making both the devices targetted towards different people.

Coming to the back, the iPhone SE sports a glass back, which feels much more premium when compared to the Galaxy S10 Lite's 'Glasstic' back. The glass back also allows the SE to support wireless charging, which the S10 Lite lacks.

The iPhone SE comes with an IP67 dust and water resistance rating, which is another aspect that the S10 Lite misses. None of them sports a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you better carry a converter or a pair of Bluetooth earphones with you at all times.

Apple iPhone SE vs Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite: Display

Apple iPhone SE 2020 sports a 4.7-inch Retina HD display. Whereas, the Galaxy S10 Lite sports a 6.7-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED display, which is not only larger than SE's display but also sporting newer technologies.

The iPhone SE comes with an LCD panel whereas, the Galaxy S10 Lite sports a Super AMOLED display panel, which is a much newer and comparatively better display technology.

The iPhone sports huge bezels, similar to the iPhone 8. However, the S10 Lite sports minimal bezels and has a display integrated hole-punch selfie camera module.

Apple iPhone SE (2020) vs Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite: Performance

Apple iPhone SE is powered by the company's latest A13 Bionic processor, which is that same processor used inside of the latest iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro smartphones. This is the company's most powerful chipset to date. The new iPhone SE only comes with 3GB of RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite, on the other hand, utilises last year's Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor paired with 8GB of RAM.

Apple iPhone SE is powered by the company's latest A13 Bionic processor.

As I have not tested these phones side by side, I will not be able to pass judgement, on which device would perform better. However, considering the processor specs, the iPhone does hold the higher ground. But, at the same time, a normal user will not be able to tell the difference, at least for the next two to three years.

Apple iPhone SE runs iOS 13 and will be upgraded to iOS 14 later this year, along with the launch of the iPhone 12 series. The Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite runs Google's Android 10 operating system with the company's One UI 2.0 skin on top. One area where Apple will pull a win is support. All iPhones to date have had more support than most of the Android phones ever launched.

Apple iPhone SE (2020) vs Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite: Cameras

Apple iPhone SE sports a single 12-megapixel wide-angle camera on the back. It also supports 4K video recording at up to 60 fps. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite features a triple camera setup on the back consisting of a 48-megapixel primary sensor, paired with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 5MP macro lens. It also supports 4K video recording at 60 fps.

Apple iPhone SE (2020) vs Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite: My thoughts

Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite is powered by the last year's Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor.

As of now, I cannot give you a verdict on which smartphone is a better buy. However, what I can tell you is that both the phones will have their own niche markets. The iPhone SE (2020) might be able to sell a lot more units than any other similarly priced smartphone. But, it will not change the minds of people who want specific things like a modern design, a better display, a bigger battery and more from their device.

While the Edge Plus will bring the true flagship experience, the vanilla Edge will be more of a toned-down version. The company has not yet announced the names of the upcoming flagships but we have seen enough leaks, rumours and teasers till date that point towards the aforementioned naming scheme.

Motorola Edge series was originally scheduled to launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event was cancelled the launch of the new flagship was postponed. According to the report, TENAA lists the device to sport a 6.57-inch display with a hole-punch to accommodate the camera, it will also come with a 4,100mAh battery. (Representational Image: Realme X2 Pro)

Realme X3 has been spotted on TENAA with the model number RMX2142. The listing was spotted by MySmartPrice. However, we were not able to verify it ourselves on TENAA. Apart from this, another variant, the Realme X3 SuperZoom was also spotted online.

According to the report, TENAA lists the device to sport a 6.57-inch display with a hole-punch to accommodate the camera. It will come with 5G support and will be backed by a 4,100mAh battery.

To recall, Realme X3 was recently spotted on the Chinese certification website 3C, also known as MIIT certification. According to the 3C listing, the device will sport 30W fast charging.

Apart from this, Realme X3 SuperZoom was recently spotted on Thailand's NBTC certification site. It has been listed under the model number RMX2086. The same device has also shown up on Geekbench, and according to the listing, the device is powered by an octa-core processor paired with 12GB of RAM. It also states that the device runs Google's Android 10 operating system. According to the website, the device was able to score a single-core score of 792 and a multi-core score of 2,507.

Seeing all of these leaks makes us think that the company plans to launch the Realme X3 quite soon. It is a successor to the Realme X2, which was launched last September, and taking the company's six-month upgrade cycle into count, it should have been launched already. However, taking the COVID-19 pandemic into account we can see why there has been such a huge delay in the launch.

Panasonic Seekit Edge Review: A cheaper alternative to Tile?

Panasonic Seekit
It is a cheaper alternative to Tile.

Panasonic Seekit is a Bluetooth based smart tracker available in India similar to Tile. It is available in two variants: Seekit Edge and Seekit Loop, at Rs 1299 and Rs 1499, respectively.

We have the Seekit Edge for review and we have to say that it is a sleek smart tracker that fits easily in your wallet. And considering the company's claim of an 18-month battery backup, you can simply put it in your wallet and forget it.

Key features of the device include Bluetooth 5.0 integration, IP65 rating for dust and water resistance and a range of up to a distance of 100 feet.

Panasonic Seekit Review: Build Quality

Panasonic Seekit feels light and soft to touch while holding. However, it does not feel as durable as its competitor, the Tile. It is very thin, due to which it can fit anywhere. I personally kept it inside of my wallet and thanks to its sleek design, it did not change the thickness of my wallet.

Panasonic Seekit
It can be used as a keyring also.

The tracker also comes with a lanyard hole, with which you can attach it to your backpack or to your keychain.

It consists of a circular button in the middle, which can be used for various purposes. However, figuring out its uses cannot be done without you reading the manual. It is just too complicated.

Panasonic Seekit Review: Battery Life

The company claims that the device comes with battery life of up to 18 months on Seekit Edge and 12 months on Seekit Loop. Here we have to believe its claims, as we have not waited as long as 18 months to write this review.

Also Read: How to watch Netflix for free

Also, there is no battery percentage monitor anywhere inside of the app or the device.

A point to keep in mind if purchasing this, there is no way that someone could change the battery in the unit, without prying it open and maybe damaging it in the process. So after the battery runs out, you will have to get a new Seekit.

Panasonic Seekit Review: Range and Tracking

This is where every manufacturer throws in a lot of theoretical numbers and try to oversell the product.

Panasonic claims that Seekit has a range of up to 100ft with no obstructions. When I tested this claim personally, I found out that in crowded places like an office or a cafe, it was around 40-50 feet.

After you lose range, the app will still tell you the last seen location and you can go to that and try to establish a connection. Once it makes a connection. It will help you pinpoint the location with a red, yellow and green indicator to help you get close to the device.

Panasonic Seekit
It's a sleek little tracker.

It also has a buzzer to help find the exact location with it beeping. However, it is not that loud. I had it in my office drawer and tested this feature, I was barely able to listen to it during this process. This could have been due to other noises in the office. In a more silent environment, it is easily distinguishable.

Panasonic Seekit Review: Features

Panasonic Seekit
The app has a lot of interesting features.

It comes with a number of features built into it. When paired and connected to the app, Seekit will buzz whenever it gets out of range of your smartphone. The app and the device monitor the connection strength and when it drops below a certain level it starts buzzing to remind you, that you forgot your belonging.

The alarm goes off on both devices notifying you of your tracker. It also sports the last seen location along with proximity guidance as we explained earlier.  You can also press the button on your Seekit three times to make your phone ring, this will help you find your phone when you lose that. This works even when your phone is in silent or vibrate mode.

Also Read: Here's why Apple launched iPhone SE 2020 after four years

You can also share access to it with your friends. So if you were to give your car to your friend, he can use this feature to keep track of the car keys without resetting it and repairing it. Also, you can revoke access anytime.

Panasonic Seekit Review: Verdict

Panasonic Seekit
It is a good piece of technology if you have trouble finding your car keys or wallet in the morning.

If you are someone who often forgets where he kept his wallet or his car keys, then this a good product for you. However, its planned obsolescence of 18 months and inability to turn it off once it's turned on its something that holds its back. But, if you are okay with that then, this is a decent investment.

How to watch Netflix for free during COVID-19 Lockdown

Netflix
Netflix is available on multiple platforms.

Netflix is currently one of the most popular media streaming platforms. It offers a wide range of TV shows, movies as well as exclusive content. With such a huge library, the subscription of the streaming service starts at Rs 199 per month for mobile devices and for TVs, the user needs to pay at least Rs 499 a month.

With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, a lot of people are tired of watching all the free content on YouTube and other social media platforms. However, with the economy falling at a high pace, users do not wanna spend as much as over Rs. 2,000 per year on just Netflix. So, at least until this lockdown comes to rest, here's how you can stream Netflix for free on your Android and iOS smartphones, TVs, laptops and more:

How to watch Netflix for free?

Netflix is not a free application and we do not recommend piracy. However, there is a simple trick that can help you get into the streaming platform for a limited period of time.

  • Open Netflix on your PC or phone
  • Create a new account
  • Opt-in for the free 30-day trial offered by the company
  • Enter your credit card details to confirm the purchase

Also Read: Apple brings back iPhone SE, looks like a repackaged iPhone 8

The credit card information is just collected to confirm your subscription. For the first 30 days, there will be no transaction made by the company. However, it is worth noting that all plans are activated on an auto-renewal basis. This means if you forget to cancel your trial by the end of the 30-day period, the amount will be automatically charged on your credit card bill. In order to enjoy a truly free watching experience, start a trial and set a reminder for cancellation on the last day.

Two Zero-Day vulnerabilities for Zoom being sold for $5,00,000

Zoom, Zoom Windows, Zoom macOS, Zoom Remote Code Execution, Zoom video calls, Zoom calls, Zoom meetings, Zoom hacked
The Windows exploit is currently being sold by brokers and is priced at $5,00,000 (approximately Rs 3.83 crore).

Zoom Cloud Meetings is a video conferencing app that recently took off reaching unrivalled heights during the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. However, this popularity has brought a number of new security and privacy issues in front of the public. The company has been hard at work trying to fix these flaws and win back the public. However, with each new day, we see the app getting hit by a new issue.

Now, two new zero-day flaws have surfaced according to a report by Motherboard. The first flaw is located inside of the Windows version of the client, whereas, the other flaw has been located inside of the macOS client. The expoilts have already made their way online and are being sold for huge amounts.

The Windows exploit is currently being sold by brokers and is priced at $5,00,000 (approximately Rs 3.83 crore). The report does not state the amount that is being asked for the macOS exploit.

It states that exploit for the Windows client is a Remote Code Execution (RCE), whereas, the one for the macOS client is not RCE, “making it less dangerous and harder to use.” This means that the macOS exploring will not be as valuable. Zero-Day vulnerabilities are vulnerabilities that have never been used.

An RCE exploit allows hackers to execute code on the target's computer without having to rely on a phishing attack. Using it hackers can gain full access to a user's machine.

“From what I've heard, there are two zero-day exploits in circulation for Zoom. [...] One affects OS X and the other Windows. I don't expect that these will have a particularly long shelf-life because when a zero-day gets used it gets discovered,” Motherboard quoted Adriel Desautels, the founder of Netragard, a company that used to sell and trade zero-days.

The report added that Zoom in a reply to their query said that they were not able to find any evidence for the claims made by the publication's sources.
