Samsung, one of the leading smartphone brands, is now gearing up to launch their next flagship series. Samsung Unpacked event for the launch of the Galaxy Note 10 line-up is scheduled for August 7. Here's everything we know so far about the upcoming Galaxy Note 10 devices.

Launch date and naming scheme

As mentioned above, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series will be unveiled at a Samsung Unpacked event on August 7. The event will take place at Barclays Center in New York, for which the media invites have already been rolled out. Just like every year, the whole event is also expected to be live-streamed via companies official YouTube channel and website so that fans from anywhere around the globe can enjoy the event.

As far as the naming scheme is concerned, the South Korean giant is expected to launch three variants of the smartphone, the Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy Note 10+ and the Galaxy Note+ 5G. The cheapest of the bunch has been given the codename “Da Vinci” internally and it has received the model number SM-N975F.

Specifications

While the Galaxy Note 10 is expected to sport a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display, the Note 10 Plus will come with a larger 6.7-inch panel. Since the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus came with in-display fingerprint scanners, we can confidently say that the Note 10 line-up will also get such tech. Both the Note 10 and Note 10 Plus will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor for the US market whereas the other countries will get the Exynos 9825 powered variant.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10, Note 10 Plus and Note 10 Plus 5G will come with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. There are chances that the company might bring a 1TB variant as well. However, there will be further room for expansion with the hybrid SIM slot, which will accept wither one SIM card and a microSD card or two SIM cards.

Both the smartphones will run on Google's Android 9 Pie operating system with Samsung's OneUI layered on top of it. Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series will come without a headphone jack as well as the dedicated Bixby button.

Facebook owns WhatsApp, Instagram and they want everyone to know that: Here's how

Instagram to soon be rebranded as "Instagram from Facebook"

While WhatsApp is a popular cross-platform messaging application, Instagram is used to share pictures and videos. Facebook acquired both the social networking platforms a few years ago. Many people might already be aware of this but Facebook wants each and every user to know. So, the company is changing the names to "WhatsApp from Facebook" and "Instagram from Facebook" respectively.

WhatsApp and Instagram employees have already been notified about the rebranding. While Facebook has owned the two apps from a long time now, both apps have been functioning independently until now. The business will carry on in the same manner but the apps will just be rebranded on the Google Play Store as well as the Apple App Store.

This piece of news might be surprising for the most people out there but it apparently did not come all of a sudden. Some sort of internal planning might have been going on since Jane Manchun Wong spotted the new branding back in March. Also, the founders of Instagram left Facebook recently. It happened soon after WhatsApp founder Brian Acton and Jan Koum quit their jobs. Now the products they built will be more visibly tied to Facebook, for better or worse.

Since Facebook has invested billions of dollars on WhatsApp and Instagram combines, such move seems to be quite justified.

Hike Sticker Chat finally brings a web interface.

Hike Sticker Chat, the popular cross-platform messaging application has received a new major update. While this update does not bring any visual changes, it does offer two really huge and important features. Auto Backup and Web are two features that many users have been requesting for and they have finally arrived.

Commenting on this, Kavin Bharti Mittal, Founder & CEO, Hike, said, “With this update, Hike Sticker Chat becomes a truly ubiquitous messaging platform. With the Auto Backup feature, your data will be backed up in real-time so you don't have to worry about changing devices and with Web, we're bringing our unique sticker driven messaging experience to the computer browser. What's unique about Hike Sticker Chat on Web is that it can be used without your phone being present or connected to the internet. A big request from the market."

"We've also upgraded our encryption to 128-bit AES 2048-bit RSA for data in transit and at rest amongst a few other things making Hike Sticker Chat more secure than ever,” he further added.

As the name suggests, Auto Backup automatically takes a backup of all the chats. This happens in real-time, which means every time one sends or receives a new message, it directly goes on to the server. While it might bring privacy concerns for some people, it will make life easier for others. The feature also makes migrating from Android to iOS or vice versa easier and brings all the chats back. This feature has been a request by many people and even WhatsApp fails to provide it.

Another interesting feature, which has now been long overdue is a web interface. The feature allows users to chat via the browser on their Mac or PC. With the help of Auto Backup feature, the Hike Web does not require the phone to be always connected to the internet. Hike Web can be accessed from this link.

Now, they are working on a new feature which will also notify users if the message has been forwarded too many times.

According to a report by Indianexpress.com, the feature is currently rolling out slowly and it is available only to a few people. The feature will soon be rolled out to everyone via the stable version of the application for both Android as well as iOS.

A WhatsApp spokesperson told Indianexpress.com, “We’ve recently introduced an update to our forwarded message label that helps people identify when they’ve received messages that were previously forwarded several times, such as a chain message. These highly forwarded messages will be marked with a double arrow icon and users will receive a notification when they are forwarding such a message.”

If any message or media has been forwarded more than five times, a notification saying “This message will be marked as forwarded many times,” appears. It will also have a double arrow indicating too many forwards. However, the app will still not tell how many times the message has been forwarded.
