Oppo K3 comes with a dual-tone back.

Oppo India has recently launched a new mid-range smartphone in India dubbed Oppo K3. The smartphone is a successor to the Oppo K1 and it comes with features like a pop-up selfie camera and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The smartphone is available at a starting price of Rs. 16,990. Here are our first impressions of Oppo K3.

Oppo K3: Specifications

The Oppo K3 sports a 6.5-inch fullHD+ Super AMOLED display with a waterdrop style notch. It is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor coupled with an Adreno 640 GPU. It comes with up to 8GB of 128GB of internal storage. It runs on Google's Android 9.0 Pie operating system with ColorOS 6 layered on top of it. All of this is backed by a 3,765mAh, which supports the company's Vooc Flash Charge 3.0 fast charging technology.

As for the optics, the Oppo K3 features a dual-camera setup at the back consisting of a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. Upfront, it features a 16-megapixel pop-up selfie camera.

Oppo K3: First Impressions

The pop-up selfie camera is in the middle.

As soon as I held the Oppo K3, it did not feel like I am holding some budget-oriented smartphone rather it felt like something premium. It comes with bezel-less display, which gives it a more 2019 look with no notch whatsoever. In order to fit a selfie camera, the company used a motorised pop-up mechanism for the 16-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Oppo K3 also comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner which is significantly faster than devices like Oppo K1, OnePlus 6T and others. Even after having such modern features on the smartphone, the company did not eliminate the headphone jack like some other brands. Speaking of modern features, the Oppo K3 also gets a USB Type-C port at the bottom.

It features a Full View display.

I also spent some time with Oppo's new ColorOS 6 user interface. The UI is quite different from what we have seen on previous Oppo phones like the Oppo K1 or the Oppo F9. The comapny has finally added an app drawer to its stock launcher, which makes a huge difference for some people. Apart from that, the company has changed quite a few other UI elements.

Flipping the phone around, the Oppo K3 features a flashy design. While the Jate Black colour variant looks quite subtle, the Aurora Blue is the one most people will prefer. The back also sports the dual-camera setup.

In a nutshell, the device looks to be quite impressive for the price. The smartphone competes directly against the likes of Realme X and even the Redmi K20. However, we will need to test out the device thoroughly to give our final verdict.

Nokia might soon launch an Android-powered feature phone. (Image: 9to5Google)

While most people are shifting to the world of smartphones these days, there are still people who prefer a feature phone over a smartphone. However, buying a feature phone brings a ton of compromises. Nokia is planning to solve the problem and fill the bridge by launching an Android-powered feature phone.

Unlike feature phones we had five years ago, these days phones like JioPhone 2 come with KaiOS that allows users to install applications like Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube and more. In order to bring competition to Reliance, HMD Global is now working on a new feature phone that will run on Google's Android operating system.

According to a recent report by 9to5Google, a leaked image has surfaced that showcases a feature phone that looks like the Nokia 220 but runs on Android. While there was no branding visible, the phone features a four-directional d-pad, T9 keyboard and other traditional features.

The image also highlights the software running on the feature phone. It looked like an Android interface featuring a home screen with a shortcut for Google Assistant. Apart from that, the home screen also features icons for YouTube, Chrome, camera and an app drawer icon. Notably, these icons follow Google's Material Design language.

There are high chances that it could be a version of Android Go, which is a toned-down version of Android. The operating system will be optimized for the feature phone it will also be light on the resources. However, we will need to wait for the feature phone to come out to see what is actually going on.

Redmi K20 comes in three colour variants.

Xiaomi India recently launched the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro in India. The smartphones are priced higher than the Poco F1, which left many fans disappointed. Most people expected the starting prices of Redmi K20 and K20 Pro to be under Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 25,000 respectively. As fans took this to Twitter, Manu Kumar Jain from Xiaomi reacted to those tweets.

As far as the pricing is concerned, the Redmi K20 is priced at Rs. 21,999 for the base variant that features 6GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The higher variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage comes with a price tag of Rs. 23,999. Redmi K20 Pro, on the other hand, is priced at Rs. 27,999 and Rs. 30,999 for the 6GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB variants.

Manu Kumar Jain, MD of Xiaomi India, shared a tweet explaining the reasons behind such high prices. At first, he explained that the Redmi K20 Pro includes all the features that a true flagship has like the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, a 48-megapixel camera, bezel-less display, 7th generation in-display fingerprint scanner, pop-up selfie camera and more.

Further, Jain claims that when you combine all these features you see price tags manoeuvring around Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 50,000. Apart from that, in order to give a true flagship experience, they have also removed any sort of display ads from MIUI on the K20 Pro.

As for the Redmi K20, the smartphone comes with a similar set of specifications as the K20 Pro except for the new Snapdragon 730 processor. According to Jain, since the processor is new in the market, the price is significantly higher.

FaceApp not working on your Android or iOS device? Here's how to fix it

faceapp, faceapp not working
FaceApp is causing issues on many devices.

If you are active on social media, you must have heard about this new application called FaceApp. The app basically allows users to click pictures of themselves and use AI-based features to make them look old or young. Lately, many people have been trying out this app. However, the app has started to show an error to most people. Here's how you can fix the problem.

While the application can be easily installed via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, the main problem comes in when people try to use the application. After clicking a picture, the app shows processing and then displays an error saying "Something went wrong, Please try again." iOS users, on the other hand, get a different error stating, "ApiRequestError error 6 - Operation couldn't be completed."

Why does this happen?

I tried installing the app on one of our smartphones yesterday and the app refused to work. I installed the app on both Android as well as iOS powered devices and got the errors stated above. Apparently, the FaceApp application has been blocked in a few countries including India over privacy concerns. This means you should avoid using the application if you do not want any misuse of your face data.

How to fix it?

Since the application has been blocked in certain countries, you will need to use a VPN service to activate the app. You can use VPN apps like Tunnel Bear, Turbo VPN and others to activate VPN service on your device. Once you have installed and activated VPN, you can start using the FaceApp application. However, if it still refuses to work, we would recommend try reinstalling the application.

Instagram to soon allow users to hide their post likes: Here's how

instagram, instagram icon, instagram music
Instagram to soon start hiding post likes.

As per the recent reports, Instagram will soon allow users to hide their post likes. Instagram announced that it's expanding its test that hides likes to few more countries adding Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Japan, Ireland and Brazil.

In Instagram, likes will be appearing in the heart-shaped symbol where people measure it as popularity or being famous. These total number of likes on photos and videos will be hidden to the followers though, the owner can view the actual likes himself.

Meanwhile, these likes will not be able to view on the main feed, profiles or pages users share with each other. A developer from Instagram said, "We are testing this because we want your followers to focus on the photos and videos you share, not how many likes they get,"

Instagram believes that likes do not describe the user's importance in the app or a social media platform. And also some user thinks that they lack attention on Instagram due to the highest likes in a pic or video. By which Instagram says that not getting enough likes can impact the user's self-esteem and get them into depression.

The Royal Society for Public Health in the United Kingdom states that "Instagram is the most detrimental social networking app for young people's mental health".

Experts suggest that hiding likes are not a solution to fix this problem instead it's upon the user how he positions himself against the people in social media. These tests don't fix the major problems like bullying or pointing but it may be reduced due to these updates on Instagram.

Earlier this month, Instagram has taken steps forward to address bullying on the platform. They have introduced a new feature with artificial intelligence which allows a user to indicate that the comment which he is about to post is offensive or not.
