Vivo recently launched two new smartphones: the Vivo V23 and the Vivo V23 Pro, in India. While the phones are not the flagship killer every new smartphone tries to be these days, the V23 Pro is a good mid-segment flagship smartphone with a sleek design and a few unique tricks up its sleeve.

Vivo V23 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC, which is a good chipset with decent performance and 5G support. The device also comes with a 90Hz refresh rate display, goods cameras and more. I have been using the Vivo V23 Pro for a few weeks and will be sharing my experience with the device here.

Vivo V23 Pro: Design

Vivo V23 Pro has been launched in two colour options: Sunshine Gold and Stardust Black. While a lot of you might be interested in the colour changing Sunshine Gold variant, I personally liked the Stardust Black variant we got for review. The Gold variant has a light gold tinge to it and as soon as you expose it to UV light, the glass changes colour to a shade of green, which looks good.

The Stardust Black colour variant looks elegant especially as it shines under the sunlight like pearl metallic paint on a luxury car.

Moving on from the colour options, the device is also differentiated with the help of the wide camera bump on the back, dual front camera, a notch and a curved display.

The combination of a metal frame and a glass back gives the smartphone a durable and premium feel. The smartphone is very comfortable to hold and use, thanks to the curved edges. The curved front and back panel gives the feel of a flagship smartphone.

The power button is located on the right edge which feels pretty small thanks to the curved front and back panels. Above it are the volume rockers. The top edge sports a secondary microphone and a “PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY” tag. These small touches show that the company put some thought into making the smartphone. The bottom edge features a primary speaker, a USB Type-C port, and the SIM card tray.

Vivo V23 Pro: Display

Vivo V23 Pro sports a 6.56-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with a variable refresh rate of up to 90Hz, an aspect ratio of 19.8:9 and a 398ppi pixel density. The display also supports HDR 10+ content and comes with a Schott Xensation α glass for protection.

The 90Hz adaptive refresh rate offers users a smooth and seamless viewing experience. The adaptive refresh rate option ensures the battery life is not affected much. You still have the option to lock the refresh rate at 60Hz or 90Hz. I found the display of the Vivo V23 Pro to be vivid, bright, and it offers a lot of clarity. Playing games or watching content on the device was a pleasure, especially while watching HDR10+ content.

Under direct sunlight, the smartphone offered a good viewing experience. It got bright enough to stay legible without the need for me to cover the display. In dark environments, the display also managed to provide a good experience. Touch rejection on the curved edges was a bit janky, but it was fixed with an update that was already there when I got the smartphone for review.

Vivo V23 Pro: Software

Vivo V23 Pro runs Google’s Android 12 operating system with the company’s Funtouch 12 skin on top. The user experience remains quite similar to most other Vivo smartphones available in the market. The system is quite customisable out of the box. I do have some gripes with the Vivo operating system, which I think should be improved for a better user experience.

Just after I set up the phone, there was a notification of background usage warning for 2 apps as soon as I landed on the home screen. The phone wants to tell me the setup procedure apps are taking a lot of power. Then it immediately tried to connect to my smart TV without asking me.

Every time I restart the smartphone, it tries to connect to all smart TVs turned on, which are on the same wireless network. The Quick Settings UI has a lot of wasted space, and feels as if it is pulled directly from Android 11 and not Android 12.

The default music app automatically tries to play music but as it finds no audio files, it throws a notification of a music player greyed out. This along with random app crashes and the amount of bloatware really felt like the software is undercooked and needs a lot of work.

While some drawbacks are there, the UI is not completely useless and does feature a lot of nifty features that I liked a lot.

Vivo V23 Pro: Performance

The device does not pack the latest, top of the line chipset, but the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 is still a powerful chipset. Combine that with the 8GB RAM, which makes it quite a beast.

The device could easily manage itself during our multi-browser test. I opened three different browsers with around 30 tabs each, and the phone was able to handle all of them very well. In our multitasking test too, the Vivo V23 Pro showed great results. I opened 10 more apps and continuously shifted from one to another and found 1-2 apps removed from the background and only around half the tabs closed. This is a really good performance. Part of it might be due to the phone’s ability to utilise a part of unused storage as Virtual RAM.

In daily usage, the device was pretty smooth and fluid to use. I used the phone to make calls, watch Netflix, chat with friends, browse Instagram, play a few games, listen to music and more. The Vivo V23 Pro could handle it all really well.

While playing games on the device for long durations, the phone managed to offer good performance and also maintained its cool. The phone did warm up a bit, but it never turned hot enough for me to leave it aside to cool down. I played multiple games on it including BGMI, Call of Duty: Mobile, Genshin Impact, and more. All of them ran smoothly with no lags at any point. The only problem was the games did not trigger to 90Hz when the refresh rate was set to adaptive.

Vivo V23 Pro: Cameras

Vivo V23 Pro sports a triple camera setup on the back consisting of a 108-megapixel primary sensor paired with an 8-megapixel ultra wide angle lens and a 2-megapixel macro lens. On the front, there is a 50-megapixel front camera along with an 8-megapixel wide angle front camera.

Seeing dual front cameras are rare nowadays, but what’s even rarer is a dedicated front flash for selfies. Even rarer are two dual-tone front flashes at each side of the top flanking the dual front cameras on both sides.

The rear 108-megapixel sensor is designed to bin the images into 12-megapixel stills. The images come out to be brighter than natural with increased saturation and sharpness. The details are also very good thanks to a bigger image being binned into a smaller one. You can also select the high-resolution mode to take full 108-megapixel shots that look more natural and have way more detail. The ultra wide angle lens also provides good shots, while the 2-megapixel macro sensor is quite a waste of space.

The 50-megapixel selfie camera takes incredible shots with vivid colours and great detail. The inclusion of a dual physical flash on the front makes sure the selfie party doesn't stop even when the sun goes down.

Overall the camera experience of the Vivo V23 Pro is next to none. If you are fond of photos, the Vivo V23 Pro won’t disappoint, especially in the selfie department.

Vivo V23 Pro: Battery

Vivo V23 Pro is backed by a 4,300mAh battery with a lot of optimisations that make the device easily last for a day of heavy usage, which includes hours of gaming, viewing content, scrolling through social media, taking images and more. With less aggressive usage I was able to use the device for two full days.

If the phone were to run out of charge in the middle of the day, there’s nothing to worry about as the device comes with support for 44W fast charging. The fast charger was able to charge the phone from 0 to 100 percent within 60 minutes and 0 to 65 percent in around 30 minutes.

Should you buy Vivo V23 Pro?

Starting at Rs 38,990 for the 8GB RAM/128GB storage model and priced at Rs 43,900 for the 12GB RAM/256GB storage option, the phone seems a bit expensive. It brings good camera performance with features like two front-facing flashes. The performance and the battery life is also great. However, the software experience is a bit off-putting.

If you can make do with the software nuances, you will be surprised at how good this mid-range smartphone is. Especially the camera. If you are looking for a great camera smartphone or need something to focus on your Instagram selfies, the Vivo V23 Pro could be your perfect companion.

The company offers VIP phone numbers in both postpaid and prepaid configurations. These premium numbers are segregated into different patterns depending on their sequence of repetition and representation. Then they are categorised into three different categories, which set the base bidding prices.

How to get BSNL Premium number

BSNL currently owns and operates an e-auction website, where its auctions premium numbers on a regular basis for all circles. At the website, you can look at the schedule of the auction in your circle and await the auction date to purchase a number.

To take part in the auction, you need to register yourself on the website. Here we will take a look at how you can register and take part in the auction.

Step 1: Head over to the BSNL e-auction website and select your circle.

Step 2: Click on the 'Login/Register' button.

Step 3: Now enter your mobile number and email ID. After which, BSNL will share the login details via a mail.

Step 4: After you get the login details tap on the 'Login' tab after clicking on the 'Login/Register' button. Then enter your mobile number and password.

Step 5: Click on the 'Available Numbers' tab located in the sidebar to take a look at the premium numbers currently available.

Step 6: Select the VIP number you want to bid on then click on the 'Continue to Cart' button.

Step 7: Pay the refundable registration amount and note down the closing date of bidding.

Step 8: On the e-auction date bid on the selected fancy number.

Note, BSNL will select three participants from the list of bidders, rest of them will get their registration fee back within 10 days after the e-auction is concluded. These three bidders will be classified as H1, H2, and H3 on the basis of their bidding amount.

Oppo K10, Enco Air 2 TWS launched in India: Price, specifications

Oppo just brought back its K-series to India, with the Oppo K10. Key features of the device include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC, a 90Hz refresh rate display, 33W fast charging and more. Apart from the new smartphone, the company also launched its Oppo Enco Air 2 true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds in the country.

Oppo K10: Price in India

Oppo K10 is priced at Rs 14,990 for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant, ad at Rs 16,990 for the 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant.

The device will be made available in Black Carbon and Blue Flame colour options, starting March 29 via Flipkart and the company's official online store.

Launch day offers include a flat Rs 2,000 discount for customers purchasing the device with an SBI Bank card. It will also be offering a Rs 1,000 instant discount to customers purchasing the device with a Standard Chartered bank or a Bank of Baroda card.

Oppo Enco Air 2: Price in India

Oppo Enco Air 2 is priced at Rs 2,499. It will be made available in White and Blue colour options in the country via Flipkart and the company's online store.

Oppo K10: Specifications

Oppo K10 sports a 6.59-inch full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage expandable via a microSD card. The device comes with the dynamic RAM expansion feature by up to 5GB. It runs Google's Android 11 operating system with the company's own ColorOS 11.1 skin on top.

Additional features include an IP54 dust and water resistance rating, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and stereo speakers. All of this is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W SuperVOOC charging.

Oppo Enco Air 2: Specifications

Oppo Enco Air 2 come with 13.4mm composite titanised diaphragm drivers. They feature a translucent lid design and come with an IPX4 rating for water resistance. It comes with a frequency response range of 20Hz to 20KHz, and support SBC and AAC codecs.

The earbuds come with the company's own Flash Connect feature for quick connection and feature an AI noise cancellation feature to filter out ambient noise during calls. They connect using Bluetooth 5.2 and can be controlled using the HeyMelody app.

Oppo Enco Air 2 come with a 27mAh battery inside of each earbud, and the case features a 440mAh battery. The company claims that the buds can last up to four hours on a single charge and with the case, they can provide a total playback time of up to 24 hours.

Instagram earlier only used to allow select users to add links as a swipe-up option to their stories. It recently revamped the feature to show up as a link sticker that all users can add to their stories.

To recall, the swipe-up link feature was only made available to users with over 10,000 followers. However, with the revamp, the company has made it available for all of its users. Here we will be taking a look at how you can post a link in your Instagram Story as a link sticker.

How to add URL links to Instagram Stories

Before we start with the steps, take note that the feature is still rolling out to everyone and might take a bit of time to show up in your Instagram account. Also, the company has removed the swipe-up feature and now the links can only be added as a sticker, which can be pasted anywhere inside of a Story.

Open Instagram and make a Story by clicking or adding a photo/video.
Once added, you will then be required to swipe up to open the sticker tray.
Now find the 'Link' option from inside of the tray. It will be located just below the GIF sticker and next to the poll sticker.
Click on the 'Link' option and then paste the URL that you want to add inside of the story.
The link that you just input will now show up as a sticker inside of the Story. You can move around the sticker, placing it where you want it inside of the Story.
The link sticker that shows up is clickable, which once clicked will take the user viewing the Story to the website inside of the URL.
After you are satisfied with the positioning and the placement of the link sticker, you can then post the Story on your account by tapping on the Share button.

Witcher 4 announced: Will not be exclusive to Epic Games Store

CD Projekt Red just confirmed that a new Witcher game is in development, which will kick off "a new saga for the franchise." It has already been revealed that the game will be built using Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5, instead of the company's own REDengine. Now, the company has revealed that the upcoming Witcher 4 game will not be an Epic Games Store exclusive.

CD Project Red via the official Witcher Twitter account in a reply to a fan stating that the upcoming Witcher game will not be made exclusive to one storefront. While the studio did say this, it did not list out the platforms where the game will be made available whenever it launches.

The speculation of the game being made available exclusively on the Epic Games Store started after the studio announced that the game will be developed using Unreal Engine 5.

It is a bit awkward to see the company move away from its own engine. However, it was speculated that the company would distance itself from the engine, after the major debacle, we know as Cyberpunk 2077.

The studio has not provided us with many details about the upcoming game, but it has released a teaser image of a snow-covered Witcher medallion. The medallion is definitely not from the School of the Wolf, thus hinting at the fact that the game will not feature Geralt. There is speculation, that the game will replace Geralt with Ciri.

As of now, we have no idea as to what to expect from the upcoming game and it will probably be a long wait before we get any solid details. We do expect a number of leaks and speculation to follow, considering that this is a major development for a AAA title.

Oppo just launched its first tablet, dubbed the Oppo Pad in the Chinese market. The new tablet looks similar to the Realme Pad, which was launched by the Oppo owned brand last year.

Key features of the new Oppo Pad include an 11-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC, support for Oppo Pencil and more.

Oppo Pad: Price

Oppo Pad is priced at Yuan 2,299 (approximately Rs 27,370) for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant, at Yuan 2,699 (approximately Rs 32,160) for the 6GB RAM/256GB storage option, and at Yuan 2,999 (approximately Rs 35,720) for the 8GB RAM/256GB storage variant.

The tablet will be made available in the Chinese market starting March 3 in Black and Purple colour variants.

Apart from the regular version, the company has also launched an Oppo Pad Artist Edition with 8GB of RAM/256GB of internal storage priced at Yuan 3,499 (approximately Rs 41,700). The Artist Edition comes with a custom two-tone metallic Silver finish with special patterns and engraving on the top side of the back panel.

Oppo Pad: Specifications

Oppo Pad sports an 11-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 2560x1600 pixels resolution. It comes with HDR10 support, a 120Hz touch sampling rate and support for P3 wide colour gamut. The company claims to have added hardware-level anti-blue light solutions inside of the display to make it easy on the eyes.

The back panel of the device features large engravings spelling out Oppo and a smaller branding in the middle.

The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The company claims to have integrated a multi-layered graphite + silicone heat dissipation system into the tablet to keep it cool during prolonged usage.

Oppo Pad will come bundled with a custom stylus named Oppo Pencil, which will come with an adjustable tip. The company claims that the stylus has 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and comes with wireless fast charging capabilities. It can last for up to 13 hours on a single charge.

It runs Google's Android 11 operating system with the company's own ColorOS 12 skin on top. It also comes with multiple software features including four-finger pinch, two-finger split-screen, parallel windows, and multi-device cross-screen collaboration.

All of this is backed by an 8,360mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging capabilities.

It comes with a quad-speaker setup, which comprises second-generation ACC speakers equipped with four 1.8-1.9cm independent sound chambers. The speakers come with support for Dolby Atmos and are Hi-Res audio.

Coming to the cameras, the device sports a 13-megapixel rear camera paired with an LED flash. At the front, it features an 8-megapixel sensor for capturing selfies.

Motorola Edge 30 Pro was just launched in India. It is the successor to the Motorola Edge 20 Pro, which was launched in the country last year. The device comes with flagship specifications like a 144Hz pOLED display, 68W fast charging, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, and more, but at the same time does not cost a bomb.

The device will take on the Asus ROG Phone 5s, Vivo X70 Pro, and the iQOO 9 in the country. Here we will be taking a look at everything we know about the new smartphone.

Motorola Edge 30 Pro: Price in India

Motorola Edge 30 Pro is priced at Rs 49,999 for the sole 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant. It will be made available via Flipkart and leading retail stores starting March 4 in Cosmos Blue and Stardust White colour options.

Launch offers include a flat Rs 5,000 discount on Flipkart and a Rs 5,000 cashback in retail stores on purchasing the device using an SBI Bank credit/debit card. Reliance Jio customers will get additional benefits worth Rs 10,000. Apart from these, the device will be made available with no-cost EMI options for up to nine months for select bank cardholders.

Motorola Edge 30 Pro: Specifications

Motorola Edge 30 Pro sports a 6.7-inch full HD+ pOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and DCI-P3 colour space. The display is protected by 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with an anti-fingerprint coating. It is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device does not support expandable storage.

It runs Google's Android 12 operating system with an almost stock user interface (UI) that has minor tweaks like added gesture support. For security, the device features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and face unlock. All of this is backed by a 4,800mAh battery with 68W TurboPower fast wired charging. The company claims that the device can be charged from zero to 50 percent within 15 minutes. The device also comes with support for 15W wireless charging and 5W wireless power-sharing.

Motorola Edge 30 Pro sports a triple camera setup at the back consisting of a 50-megapixel primary sensor with omnidirectional phase-detection autofocus and optical image stabilisation (OIS). Apart from the primary sensor, the device features another 50-megapixel sensor with an ultra wide angle lens on top and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera features a 60-megapixel sensor for shooting selfies.

Some other features include dual stereo speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos, an IP52 dust and a water-resistant rating. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port.

Apex Legends Mobile launch next week, currently only limited to 10 countries

Mobile gamers have been patiently waiting for Respawn Entertainment to release its Apex Legends Mobile game. The wait now seems to be over, starting next week, the game will be taken out of its closed beta and will be made available in a "limited regional launch" in 10 countries.

Apex Legends Mobile will be made available in 10 countries from next week including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Colombia. The game will be made available on both iOS and Android platforms.

To recall, the game was made available in India during its closed beta phase. However, the country does not seem to be on the list for the limited regional launch.

Respawn has not revealed details regarding the wider rollout of the mobile game as of now. However, it has stated that it will be sharing updates on the global launch once the game is ready to come out of the limited regional launch phase.

Also take note, the game has been specifically designed for mobile, so you will not be able to play with console or PC gamers.

Currently, there is a lot of excitement regarding the game's launch. This can be attributed to such games bringing console/PC gaming quality to mobile. For example PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty: Mobile are currently two of the top App Store downloads in January, according to Sensor Tower data. The data further showcases that Call of Duty: Mobile has surpassed $1.5 billion in player spending.

Intel in a bout to expand its 12th-Gen 'Alder Lake' CPU family has launched two new ranges a new P-series and a refreshed U-series. The new range of Alder Lake CPUs are aimed at thin and light laptops for mainstream users.

According to Intel, we will get to see over 250 laptop models powered by these CPUs launch this year. This list of laptops will include 2-in-1s, detachables, and laptops with foldable displays. It further claims that these laptops will provide users with improved performance thanks to the high core and thread counts.

What is Alder Lake?

Before we get into the details of the new CPU series let's take a look at what 'Alder Lake' is. Alder Lake CPUs are a combination of heterogenous X86 P-cores and E-cores. Here P stands for power and E stands for efficiency. This combination provides the right mix of power and efficiency, providing the users with high-level performance.

New Intel 12th-Gen Alder Lake CPUs

The newest entrant is the P-series, which will serve the 28W “enthusiast thin-and-light” segment. The company has announced six models under the series, spanning the Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 tiers.

The company claims that the rise in the thread count will help deliver enthusiast-level performance and improved productivity.

The base Core i3-1220P will come with two P-cores with Hyper-Threading and eight E-cores. Whereas, the top Core i7-1280P will include six P-cores with Hyper-Threading and eight E-cores.

Under the P-series, laptop OEMs will be able to provide up to four Thunderbolt ports and partially integrated Wi-Fi 6e.

Coming to the refreshed U-series, it will be made available in two package sizes: 9W for extremely portable devices and 15W for everyday users. This category includes seven new models ranging from Celeron to Core i7. The Celeron CPU comes with a single P-core and four E-cores, no Hyper-Threading. Whereas, the top Core i7 model features two P-cores, eight E-cores, 12 total threads.

The company claims that its latest CPUs make use of the same Thread Director feature as all of the earlier 12th-Gen CPUs. This feature allows the CPUs to assign workloads dynamically between P-cores and E-cores based on power and performance requirements, and is integrated into Windows 11. It is also compatible with Windows 11, but is not as deeply optimised for the heterogeneous core architecture.

All of the new CPUs except for the 9W U-series models will support DDR5, DDR4, LPDDR5 and LPDDR4X RAM. Whereas, the 9W models will only support LPDDR5 and LPDDR4X.
