Google reveals Android Q will officially be called Android 10

android, android 10, android q
Android 10 is the name of the upcoming update.

Google announced a new version of Android a few months ago. The company has already released the beta version fo the smartphone for dozens of smartphones. Now, Google is gearing up to officially launch the operating system, which also means that it is that time of the year when they announce the name of the next Android. Unlike the past years, the company is now ditching alphabets or dessert names for just plain numbers.

Till now, Android versions have been arranged in alphabetical order and the company has named them with desserts of corresponding alphabets. While most people loved it, there were people who found it difficult to pronounce some of those dessert names. So, the company has now decided to go with just plain numbers, which means that the Android Q will be known as Android 10. Since the rebranding has been made, the upcoming versions of Android will also be called Android 11, Android 12 and so on.

Currently, there are over 2.5 billion active Android devices over the world. Since it is being used worldwide, Google not only has to consider the people in the US but also people living in Italy, Russia or even India.

The old naming convention could have been difficult to understand for new users as they would not know if their phone is running on the latest version or not. Also, there were other confusions like pies are not a dessert in some places and marshmallows are not a popular treat in many parts of the world.

Apart from that, Google also went ahead and updated the age-old Android logo. The new logo now only shows off the head of the Android instead of the full body. The company has also changed the green colour a bit to make it a little more understandable.

Detel D1 Slim Review: Here is why it is still worth it in 2019

Detel, D1 Slim
The Detel D1 Slim is a great secondary phone to use.

Its 2019 and smartphones are everywhere. You can get a decently used smartphone with all the features of a modern-day phone for around Rs. 2000. I personally sold an old iPhone 4s for Rs 2200 in perfect condition around a month ago.

However, there are still a number of people who still want to buy a feature phone. In many cases, feature phones offer more value than a smartphone. Phones like the Detel D1 Slim are the ones that sell due to this fact. Here is why people would still like to buy a feature phone like Detel D1 Slim.

Detel D1 Slim: Specifications

Detel D1 Slim sports a 2.4-inch display along with dual SIM and micro-SD card support. The USP of the device is its Auto Call Recorder functionality, which is a great thing to have due to Google banning call service access in Android starting March 1st. Also, the D1 Slim features a huge loudspeaker, which enables it to be used as a cheap music player that you can travel with.

Detel, D1 Slim
The phone features completely basic features

It comes with a 0.3-megapixel VGA camera on the back paired with an LED flash and the same 0.3-megapixel VGA camera on the front.

Detel D1 Slim: Design

Detel D1 Slim features a candy bar design of the past. There is a small 2.4-inch display with speaker piece on the top and a 0.3-megapixel camera. The full T9 keyboard on the bottom, small camera at the back along with a big loudspeaker. The phone also sports a microUSB port for charging and a headphone jack.

Detel, D1 Slim
The Front sports a basic design

First look at the device reveals its shiny blue coloured keyboard embedded into a shiny blue coloured body, which gives it a unique look. The device is entirely made out of plastic, which at this price point was expected. The keys have a sturdy feel to them. The back panel feels solid, but I really doubt its durability.

Detel, D1 Slim
The back of the D1 slim sports a massive speaker

Having such a cheap plastic body is one of the pros for the feature phone. The phone is really cheap and it doesn't have a glass sandwich design or a premium metal back that can easily get damaged. You can basically throw it anywhere and it won't matter. The keys are sturdy so they won't get damaged. The display plastic feels that it is made out of really good quality plastic. Overall, the D1 Slim according to me can take a beating and still come out unscathed.

Detel D1 Gold: Features

The device packs a design of the past, however, it still packs some modern day features. It can play FM wirelessly if you ever need it, you can insert a microSD card into it and use that to play songs and use it as an mp3 player, it can make calls, it can work as a torch, it has a pre-loaded snake game which is a delight to play and it can browse the internet.

However, we suggest you not to browse the internet on this one, as it runs on GPRS/2G connection and opening Facebook to send one message sometimes takes over 15 minutes.

It has a loudspeaker that can be used to play music. The most important feature that I personally use is its Automatic Call Recorder. Especially, because of Google stopping apps from accessing calling APIs from March 1st, 2019. Also, Android Pie based smartphones have the new restrictions already enabled so a feature like that makes a lot of sense to the people who require it.

Detel D1 Slim: Camera

Detel D1 Slim sports a 0.3-megapixel rear camera with LED-Flash along. It sports the same camera module on the front. Fun fact, to click any photos from the camera you will need to insert a micro-sd card first as the device comes with near to none internal storage.

It actually intimates the user to insert a memory card when they try to click any photo. However, with a 0.3-megapixel camera, we highly doubt that anybody will even care.

However, if you are still wondering, the photo quality is next to nothing. You will be able to capture the shape of the object but no details at all. Simply, the existence of the camera on this phone is simply of no use according to me.

However, do keep this in mind, I currently have used various flagship devices, and it has been years since I last used a VGA camera to take an image.

Detel D1 Slim: Battery

The battery on this device is one of the most interesting aspects of it. The device lasts almost around a month on usage as an emergency phone. The power-saving feature can extend that time period even more. The 0-100 charge times are not even that bad, with the phone taking around 2 hours to fully charge up with the included charger.

Detel, D1 Slim
The D1 slim has a removable battery

Keep note that I used the phone with an extra SIM card to use as a secondary phone to make and receive some calls here and there. The battery capacity for anyone wondering is 1,500mAh.

Detel D1 Slim: Conclusion

Detel, D1 Slim
The blue look of the D1 Slim is great

Detel D1 Slim costs only Rs. 999. You can use this as a secondary phone to make calls. The speaker is quite loud to enjoy some tunes whenever you wish. You can use this to record calls, which is a nifty feature. I personally used it as an emergency phone that I kept in my bag and my car.

Xiaomi Mi A3 price leaked ahead of launch, to be priced at Rs 14,998

xiaomi, mi, mi a3
Xiaomi Mi A3 comes with a glass sandwich design.

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch their next Android One smartphone, the Mi A3 in India. The specifications are already out since the phone was recently launched in Europe. So, all we are waiting for is the pricing of the Indian unit. Amazon, Xiaomi's launch partner, revealed the price of the phone ahead of launch.

Xiaomi is launching two variants of the smartphone in India, one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage and the other with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. While the base variant will be priced at Rs. 14,998, the price of the 128GB variant has been set at Rs. 17,498

There will be three colour options available, namely, Not Just Blue, More Than White, and Kind of Grey. The prices and colour variants were spotted on Amazon India by Mukul Sharma. He shared the screenshots of the same via his Twitter handle.

If the prices are correct, the phone is too pricy for its specifications. It sports an HD display where most devices in the segment including the company's own Redmi Note 7 Pro come with a fullHD display. Also, the processor is quite under powered when compared to its competition.

Xiaomi's Redmi Note 8 Pro to look like Redmi K20: Here's what you need to know

xiaomi, redmi, redmi note 8 pro
Redmi Note 8 Pro will carry a similar design language seen on the Redmi K20.

While Realme India just unveiled the Realme 5 series in India, Xiaomi is also gearing up to launch the next Redmi 8 series. The Redmi 8 was spotted on the internet a few days ago and now the Redmi Note 8 Pro showed up. While the Redmi 8 is expected to be more of a budget oriented option, the Redmi Note 8 Pro will be the highest-end of its upcoming mid-rangers.

The upcoming Redmi Note 8 Pro leaked at a set where its TV commercial was being filmed. According to the images, the design looks quite similar to what we have seen on the recently launched Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. Also, the company looks like dropping the Xiaomi logo in exchange for a Redmi logo.

Unlike the last generation, the rear camera setup is not on the top left but has been shifted to centre. Also, right below the triple camera setup at the back, we can also see the fingerprint scanner. It clearly means that the mid-range device would not get an in-display fingerprint sensor.

As for the specifications, the details have not come out yet. However, judging the leaked image, we can confirm that the upcoming mid-range smartphone will feature a triple camera setup at the back.
