Realme has started rolling out its ColorOS 6 update to the Realme 1 and Realme U1 bringing Google's Android 9.0 Pie operating system to the devices. Firmware for the Realme 1 comes with the serial number CPH1859EX_11_A.37, whereas the Realme U1 comes with RMX1831EX_11_A.10.

The update brings a new user interface (UI), app drawer, a new theme store and a Riding Mode. It also adds a Nightscape Mode for the camera, while bringing the Android May security patch.

System changes include new notification icons in the status bar, new navigational gestures, the inclusion of an app drawer, Riding Mode, live wallpapers and May 5 Android security patch.

UI updates include an updated notification panel, a new AI Board and a new default theme. Camera improvements include the addition of a Nightscape Mode. Lastly, new applications have also been added including a new theme store, a realme game centre and a realme community app.

The update is currently being rolled out in a phased manner and will be reaching all customers in a few weeks. To check if your smartphone has got the update, you need to go to Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Check for updates. If an update shows up you can press download and install to get it.

To recall, the company will be rolling out Android 9 Pie updates for the Realme 2 and Realme C1 next according to the update schedule announcement it made earlier.

Coolpad has launched a new smartphone in India with a 'Dewdrop' notch display in India, dubbed Coolpad Cool 3 Plus. The company has partnered with Amazon India to sell the device in the country. It will come in Cherry Black and Ocean Blue colour options.

The device will be made available in two RAM/internal storage variants: 2GB RAM/16GB storage and 3GB RAM/32GB storage priced at Rs 5,999 and Rs 6,499, respectively. It will be made available exclusively on Amazon starting July 2.

Coolpad Cool 3 Plus sports a 5.71-inch HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 processor paired with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage expandable via a microSD card. The device runs Google's Android 9.0 Pie operating system with the company's own skin on top. All of this is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery.

On the back of the device, it features the sole 13-megapixel sensor paired with an LED flash module. On the front, it sports an 8-megapixel sensor for taking selfies. Back of the device also consists of a capacitive fingerprint scanner for security.

Google Maps gets Stay Safer mode: Here's what it does

Google has introduced a new feature for its Maps application, dubbed, Stay Safer. The feature will allow users travelling in autorickshaws and cabs to stay safer by notifying them when their vehicle is headed off-route. Additionally, the feature also shares the live location to family and friends.

According to Google, the app will send an immediate alert notification to the user if the cab driver deviates more than 0.5 km from the suggested route of Google Maps. This feature will be quite helpful or people travelling alone at night and it is also one move forward for women's safety.

The feature is now available on all Android smartphones with the latest Google Maps update available on Google Play Store.

How to use Stay Safer feature?

In order to use the feature, first, the user needs to ensure that the Google Maps application is up-to-date on their Android smartphone. Now they simply have to search for a destination and the option for ‘Stay Safer’ feature will appear. Once clicked on that, users will get two options, 'Share live trip' and ‘Get off-route alerts’ options.

If you tap on the 'Share live trip', Google will suggest some contacts with whom you can share your live trip.
