Nokia S40 users will no longer be able to use WhatsApp
WhatsApp was founded back in 2009 and is now one of the most popular cross-platform messaging applications. The app has been available on a variety of mobile operating systems. However, the company is now kicking out support for some of the operating systems. So, here are the phones that will not support the app anymore
To begin with, the Facebook-owned company has stopped support for the much popular Nokia S40 platform. While the platform was quite popular back in its days, it is nearly dead today. The devices that will not be able to run WhatsApp anymore include Nokia 206, Nokia 208, Nokia 301 Chat Edition, Nokia 515, Nokia Asha 201, Nokia Asha 205 Chat Edition, Nokia Asha 210, Nokia Asha 230 and more.
According to WhatsApp, this was a tough decision to make. This will force Nokia S40 Platform users to upgrade to a new smartphone in order to use the app. However, this will help the company in focusing on other platforms such as Android, iOS, and KaiOS.
Apart from the Nokia S40 platform, the company is also planning to stop the support for Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread and older. Even Apple iPhone 3GS or iOS 6 users will not be able to run the app starting February 1, 2020.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is said to be working on a Dark Mode for Android, which will switch the whole UI into black. This will make it soothing for the eyes and also help save battery on smartphones with OLED panels.
While Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ have started receiving the stable Android 9 Pie update, the Galaxy Note 9 is getting its third Beta update. The Android 9 Pie based One UI Beta update has recived some bug fixes and improvements alongside the January 1, 2019 security patch.
As far as the changelog is concerned, the new N960FXXU2ZRLR update brings quite a lot of bug fixes. The update weighs in at around 332MB. It fixes random System UI crashes and bugs with the Samsung Notes, Contacts and the Dialer application.
The new update weighs in at around 332MB
Surprisingly, the update also brings the January 1, 2019 Android Security Patch to the table. It makes the Galaxy Note 9 one of the first Android smartphones to get the security patch. Further, the update also fixes issues related to the navigation bar gestures not working in full screen mode.
Soon after the 332MB update, we also received another minor update weighing in at around 123MB. It brings improvements to the camera of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2960x1440 pixels. The smartphone is powered by the Exynos 9810 octa-core processor. It packs in up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. All of this is backed by a 4,000mAh battery.
On the optics front, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 sports a dual-camera setup at the back consisting of a 12-megapixel primary and a 12-megapixel secondary sensor. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.
Zowie EC1-B and EC2-B CS:GO Edition gaming mice feature the team Counter Terrorist logo
Zowie launched special edition mice back in March for Counter Strike: Global Offensive fans. The EC1-B and EC2-B are two similar looking mice with the only difference is their size. Both of them are focused towards FPS gamers, especially Counter Strike: Global Offensive players. Here's how they perform in the real world.
Zowie EC1-B, EC2-B gaming mouse review: Design
The Zowie EC1-B and EC2-B look very similar, the only difference between them is their size. EC1-B is a medium-size mouse, whereas, the EC2-B is a large size mouse.
Both the mice are comfortable to hold due to their ergonomic design. However, both of them are catered towards right-hand users. They feature a total of five buttons and a scroll wheel. They lack any type of RGB lights, however, considering the mice is made for competitive gamers, any unnecassary distractions should be avoided.
The two buttons on the left are customisable in-game
One thing that I personally loved about these mice is the printed counter-terrorist logo on the front. That logo means a lot for the Counter Strike fan base and is one of the few reasons why you might want to purchase these.
Zowie EC1-B, EC2-B gaming mouse review: Features
The first thing which I noticed when I started using the mouse was the lack of any sort of a desktop application. This could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it.
Zowie claims that they have removed the hassle of any software in order to make the mouse just a Plug and Play device. They have added two buttons at the bottom of the mouse which allows the user to choose between 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 DPIs and 125, 500 and 1000 Hz report rate.
Zowie EC1-B and EC2-B come with customizable report rate and DPI
However, in my opinion, there should at least be an optional software that allows for custom DPIs and other advanced settings. As I personally play at 1200 DPI, it took time for me to get used to the mice as on those I had to play on a 1600 DPI.
While most mice in this price range only offer customization of DPI and RGB lights, this one can handle much more.
The report rate adjustment will allow gamers to get more accurate movements, hence, giving them a competitive edge in matches. Interestingly, users can also adjust the LOD or Lift-Off Distance, which is quite useful for FPS gamers. The adjustable LOD is something that has made Zowie quite popular in the Counter-Strike community.
Zowie EC1-B, EC2-B gaming mouse review: Verdict
Zowie EC1-B offers a better grip over the EC2-B for medium sized hands.
Zowie EC1-B and EC2-B CS:GO Edition mice are made for FPS gamers and CS:GO fans. They offer good performance and accurate movement, which is what most people look for in a gaming mouse.
If you play any FPS games, most of the times you do not require any RGB lights or an advanced customization software, which makes these mice a very good offering.
While purchasing, do keep in mind that if you have small or average sized hands you might want to go for the Zowie EC1-B, whereas, people with large hands can purchase the Zowie EC2-B.
In case you are not a regular gamer and play games casually and wanting something flashy might be your thing. Then we recommend looking elsewhere.
The Asus Zenfone Lite L1 is one of the cheapest Zenfones you can buy, however, is it worth it?
Asus Zenfone Lite L1 is supposed to be a really affordable sub Rs. 7,000 smartphone that offers great performance. However, ambition is not enough to build a great smartphone. The Zenfone Lite L1 packs decent specifications for its price but does it live up to the mark Asus priced it at? Let's find out.
Asus Zenfone Lite L1
The Asus Zenfone Lite L1 comes with a 1.40 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 coupled with an Adreno 505 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It sports a 5.45-inch (720 x 1440 pixels) LCD display. For the optics, it features a 13-megapixel sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and an LED Flash on the back. For selfies, it packs a 5-megapixel sensor with a f/2.4 aperture. All of this is backed by a 3,000mAh Battery.
Asus Zenfone Lite L1 sports a 18:9 aspect ratio display.
The device sports a plastic back panel that feels quite cheap. It runs Google’s Android 8.0 Oreo with Asus’s ZenUI skin on top. The phone sports dual SIM card slots, a dedicated microSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro-USB port for charging and data syncing. There is no fingerprint sensor on this one.
Asus Zenfone Lite L1 Review: Design
There is nothing that might interest you in the design of the Asus Zenfone Lite L1. The back is made out of plastic and doesn't feel good. The looks are nothing fancy too, it looks like a basic smartphone with nothing unique to itself.
Asus has stretched the display on Zenfone Lite L1 to reduce bezels
The device sports a 5.45-inch LCD display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Unlike the trend of 2018, there is no notch on the display, However, the display is stretched a bit to reduce bezels. The speaker grille, 5-megapixel front camera, and the sensor array are all placed on the top bezel. Due to Asus deciding to skip the Notch on this one, it gives the device symmetry with the bezels at both the top and bottom, which looks nice.
Asus Zenfone Lite L1 sports a plastic back panel.
On the back, the device sports a camera setup and an LED flash aligned in a vertical orientation on the top left corner. The phone bears Asus branding in the centre of the device. The camera although being a low camera on the low-budget range smartphone has a bulge on it, which means the device has a big image sensor.
Here's how the Asus Zenfone Lite L1 looks from the right, left, top, bottom in order
On the right edge, you can see a power button with the volume rockers. The left edge holds the SIM card tray with SIM slots and a dedicated micro-SD card slot. The top edge houses a headphone jack and the bottom edge features a micro-USB port along with speakers and microphone.
Overall the design of the smartphone feels pretty dated. That might appeal to some people who like simplistic designs instead of the fancy ones smartphone companies are using these days. Asus didn't try to hide that the phone is made out of plastic, which is appreciated. Also, the company tried to maintain symmetry throughout the device with the microphone grille looking like the speaker grille and more.
Asus Zenfone Lite L1 Review: Software
Asus Zenfone Lite L1 runs Google’s Android 8.0 Oreo with the company’s own ZenUI skin on top. ZenUI is a skin that Asus adds to almost all of its devices giving them a unique look and feel. It offers a heavily customized Android experience with its icon packs and some bloatware apps like Facebook, Atok and BR Apps. These might be useful for some people but not for all. However, a plus point is that some of these apps can be uninstalled and others can easily be disabled from the app drawer itself.
Asus's ZenUI has definitely evolved, but there is still a lot more things that Asus can do to make it better.
Overall ZenUI has evolved a lot from its old days of Zenfone 2. It now has a less amount of bloatware and modifications. There are small features that have been added here and there which make the experience better than most of the other skins. Still, there is a lot of progress that is needed to be made by the Asus.
Performance is a major area of concern on any device, the same goes for Asus Zenfone Lite L1. It is powered by a 1.99 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor coupled with an Adreno 505 GPU and 2GB of RAM.
Here's how the Asus Zenfone Lite L1 performed on AnTuTu (Left) and Geekbench (Right)
We ran our usual benchmark tests test to evaluate the performance of the device. On AnTuTu it yielded a score of 55521, which is great considering the price and competition. On GeekBench it managed to get a single core score of 663 and a multi-core score of 2349. The performance numbers of the device on paper were great for the value. However, the phone exhibits quite some lag during normal usage.
While playing light games such as Temple Run and Crossy Chicken, the phone shows a bit of lag here and there. Heavy games like Asphalt 9 Legends and PUBG Mobile are almost next to impossible to play.
Readability under direct sunlight on the Asus Zenfone Lite L1 is pretty bad
Asus Zenfone Lite L1 sports a 5.45-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1440x720 pixels. The brightness levels are able to get quite low and decently high depending on the situation. The colours are okay for a smartphone at this price. Display legibility under direct sunlight is not good, but that is mainly due to brightness not being high enough.
Asus Zenfone Lite L1 features a 13-megapixel rear camera sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and a 5-megapixel with a f/2.4 aperture on the front. Both the camera sensors are good on paper. Although, not everything depends on the camera lenses as we have seen in the past.

Low Light

Images taken with the rear camera come out very good. The colours are little brighter than natural but the image look very good. The contrast and saturation is also great. Overall the back camera is amazing considering the price point and is one of the best you can get under Rs. 7,000.
Beauty Mode (Left) and Normal(Right)
The front camera is a totally different story. The photos taken come out a little to dark and the white balance is very bad. Turning on the beauty mode solves this issue, however, the white balance still remains an issue.
Overall, the rear camera performs exceptionally well, considering the price. Whereas, the front camera needs a lot of work.
Asus Zenfone Lite L1 is backed by a 3,000mAh battery, which lasts for a little over 24 hours on a single charge. Charging time with the included charger is around two hours, which is not bad. According to us, you might want to charge this smartphone in the night before going to bed so that it doesn't die on you.
Here's how the Asus Zenfone Lite L1 performed during out battery review.
We ran PCMark's Work 2.0 Battery Life test, which subjects the phone to heavy usage and finds out how the battery performs in those conditions. The device yielded a result of 9 hours and 42 minutes, which seems a bit low in comparison to similar battery capacity smartphones.
Asus Zenfone Lite L1 is priced at Rs. 5,499, for which the performance and the features it offers, are a mixed bag. On one had the rear camera performance is amazing and on the other hand, having only 2GB RAM is quite a limiting factor for this smartphone.
This makes the Zenfone Lite L1 quite a hard device to recommend. If your priority is camera then go for it. However, if your priority is performance, pass this one.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro is the companys latest mid segment smartphone
Chinese Electronics Manufacturer, Xiaomi unveiled their latest Redmi Note 6 Pro in India towards the start of November this year. The smartphone launched with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset under the hood. However, a couple of months before the launch of the smartphone there were rumours of the company putting in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 inside the Redmi Note 6 Pro. Rumours were debunked at the time of the launch
However, around a month after the launch of the smartphone, there are again rumors of a Redmi Note 6 variant with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660. this time the rumors are fulled by Flipkart accidentally listing the Redmi Note 6 Pro with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660.
According to a tweet shared by a Twitter user Ishan Agarwal, Flipkart accidentally revealed a new variant of the Redmi Note 6 Pro. The listing unfortunately has been removed as of now. The new variant was listen with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and a massive 5,000mAh of battery.
The screenshot shared screenshot of the new variant is shown to be costing Rs 15,999. However, the price is striked out and and a new price of Rs 13,999 was written meaning that the new variant would launch under some promotion or any upcoming sale.
As of now, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is available in only two variants. One of the variants costs Rs 13,999 and comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB storage. The bigger variant costs Rs 15,999 and comes with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB storage.
However we still cannot confirm that whether the Redmi Note 6 Pro will have a new variant with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 or maybe is it a error by the Flipkart employee in listing the product on for a upcoming sale. If the second one is true, this means on the sale which would be coming soon, the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant would be available for Rs 13,999. That makes us believe that the 4GB RAM and the 64GB storage variant will also go on a discount of around the same amount. This leads that the 4GB and 64GB storage variant will be available for Rs 11,999 which will make it one of the best phones in its price segment.
Fortnite is one of the most popular Battle Royal games
Arguably one of the best games of 2018 is Fortnite. So this must not be surprising that the game developer is early quite a bit on the game. How much the Fortnite game studio Epic Studio has made over 2018 will be a surprise for you.
Apparently, a "source with knowledge of the business" reported to TechCrunch that Epic Games, the studio that made and maintains Fortnite earned over $3 billion in profit in 2018. Also, most of the money is due to the Fortnite Battle Royale.
The game was first released back in September 2017 but it saw massive growth in users and popularity in 2018. This was mainly due to Epic Games bringing the title to Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch. The ability to cross-play with people on any platform playing with people with any platform led to a big success of the game. So much so that Sony also allowed that.
An exact breakdown of the revenue has not been disclosed, however, a company called Sensor Tower estimates that iOS players spent $1.23 million daily on the game in November. This resulted in a total of $385 million from users playing on iOS. Earning's on the Android Platform is a little hard to figure out due to the company deciding not to use the Google Play store and distribute the game themselves.
Fortnite allows cross platform gaming
Despite the ridiculously high earning, the company missed out on revenue from the Chinese Market. Due to licencing issues, the company cannot yet monetize the game in the country.
However, not all of the earnings are from the Fortnite. Epic Games launched the Epic Game Store last month. The store is a shot against other digital gaming stores. The biggest one in the market, Steam takes 30% of the cut of the revenue, while the Epic Games has promised to take only 12%, which is less than half of that Steam takes.
PUBG is one of the most popular games right now in India
Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds or better known as PUBG has become one of the most popular games in India. PUBG Mobile has gained more popularity as it is free on the platform. It has reached a point where college teachers getting fed up of catching students playing the game in the middle of a lecture.
According to a report by Gadgets360, there is a fake notice going around on social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. The fake notice claims that the government of India has banned the game, specifically the Bombay High Court. The reason for this alleged ban is that the game is creating a lot of nuisance and causing students to spoil their life without realizing that.
The fake notice doing rounds on Social Media
If we go by that logic, almost all mobile games can be considered as a nuisance. Ignoring that part, the number of grammatical errors in that so-called High Court order to be much to be true. For starters, they have misspelled the word magistrates. The letter is signed by a person called K Srinivasulu with the designation of prejudge. According to the Indian Judicial system, there is no designation of prejudge. There is a district judge in the lower courts of India or directly High Court Judge in an Indian High court. A false designation clearly proves that the order is fake.
Furthermore, the order seems to have been issued by "Center for governance" which doesn't exist. Also, the term "legally notices" is incorrect. It also says and we quote, "All we have knew that a few countries took action on ban of this game". The sentence is not only grammatically incorrect but also other countries doing something is not a valid reason for our country to do the same.
To top it all off, Bombay High Court bench does not have a judge that goes by the name of K Srinivasulu. You can check this by going to the Bombay High Court Website and looking at the list of all the present judges.
