Xiaomi has rolled out its first update for MIUI 11 bringing in a much requested feature, the application drawer. Earlier, MIUI running smartphones, except for the one using the Poco Launcher, did not have an app drawer.
This feature was first spotted in the MIUI 11 Beta version earlier this year and today it has made to the public release. App drawer is very useful to navigate through the pre-installed apps faster without searching one by one. It comes very handy in order to navigate apps installed on the smartphone.
To activate the app drawer on any Xiaomi smartphone that is running MIUI 11 users need to do so by going to Settings> Desktop> Desktop Mode On/Off.
The app drawer will also display recent apps on the top with all apps listed below. The app drawer also features a downward-facing arrow located on the top, which the users can tap to collapse it.
All of the apps will be sorted in an alphabetical order to find the required application easier.
Google in its stock AOSP ROM of Android always provides an app drawer. With this move, Xiaomi has moved a bit closer to the Stock Android look and feel.
Online gaming is gaining ever more popularity. Why? Constant improvement in graphics, gameplay, and the story is amongst other reasons. What makes online gaming possible is the internet. Internet speeds keep increasing and the online gaming experience continues to evolve. The road though is not as smooth as it sounds.
The biggest issue that online gaming brings along is lag. You may be playing a great game, about to fire the last shot the ends the game, about to score in the dying seconds, or just about to finish up strong. You experience a little interruption, a split second of communication interruption, a little distortion in the display and boom it is all gone. Shot never fired, a goal never scored and lost the game. It is more than disappointing, it is frustrating!
Does the question remain how to get rid of it? Read on to find out a few simple solutions that will enhance your gaming experience and make sure you never face lag or latency issues ever again.
A faster internet connection
This is one of the easiest solutions one can come up with. Faster is always better. If you feel that there is nothing wrong with your Spectrum internet connection and the game still lags. You have also checked your system and there is nothing else you can do, then it is time that you upgrade your internet. Faster internet is capable of handling the greater load and carry more data per second.
If you want to know exactly what speeds would work for you, we’d have to refer to an FCC guide. They categorize a single devise use as basic, add two devices and you have medium use age and lastly, four or more devices fall into the advanced category. Everyone owns a computer and a smartphone. That’s two devices right there. You have more than one person sharing the same internet connection and you are already in the medium category. It is safe to conclude that a 25Mbps connection should be enough for you to enjoy a smooth gaming experience.
Use a gaming router
Yes, there are routers specially designed for gaming purposes. These special routers are specifically designed to make the most out of your internet connection and get you great online gaming experience.
Among other great options, QoS is one of the best ones. It works like a traffic signal and prioritizes your internet speed to the preferred device. This means that you get a major chink of whatever bandwidth you get. Advance gaming routers will also enable you to manage bandwidth for multiple devices.
Go for a wired connection
Like the previous fixes, this one also relates to the internet. The wireless connection does offer ease and flexibility but it also comes with a fair share of troubles. This flexibility can face an issue like objects in the way to clash with other signals travelling in the vicinity. This may cause distortion and you may not be able to get the maximum speed promised by your ISP.
To make that you get the best available speeds out of your internet connection, skip the ease, where possible, and go for a wired connection. An Ethernet connection ensures you lose minimum speed from router to device and you get great online gaming experience.
Defrag your hard drive
This one relates to the wellbeing of the system software. You need to ensure that all the plugins, software, and other apps are up to date. This ensures optimum output especially when there are no bugs in the way. This also helps keep the system clean from viruses and malware that can further slow down your system and cause lag.

Reliance Jio recently decided to start charging consumers for the IUC, which basically allows them to talk to users on other networks. While Vodafone and Airtel continue to offer free calls on other networks, Jio had to force users to buy talk time in order to bring calling functionality. The company recently introduced its All-in-One plans and they are now offering discounts on the same.
Currently, there are four plans under the All-in-One plans section, which includes Rs 222, Rs 333, Rs 444 and Rs 555 plans. The company is offering a discount of up to Rs. 50 on the premium Rs 444 and Rs 555 plans. While the Rs 555 plan gets Rs 50 off effectively coming down to Rs 505, the Rs 444 plan gets a discount of Rs 44 bringing it down to just Rs 400.
Both Rs 444 and Rs 555 plans come with a validity of 84 days and offer 2GB of 4G data per day, which sums up to around 168GB throughout the validity period. These plans also offer unlimited calls on Jio to Jio. As for the other networks, the Rs 444 plan offers 1000mins whereas the flagship Rs 555 plan brings 3000mins on board.
These new All-in-One plans were introduced soon after Jio decided to charge customers for the interconnect usage charge. These charges are paid by telecom companies to each other for calls made to their networks. The fixed IUC by TRAI is 6 paise per minute. In case the user decides to opt for some other plan like the Rs 149, they will need to pay additional charges in order to make calls to other networks.

Twitter has announced that it will ban political advertising on its platform starting November 22. Analysts state that they don't expect the ban to significantly reduce Twitter's business, however, the company's shares did fall 1.9 percent in after-hours trading.
This news comes after Twitter rival Facebook is facing growing pressure to stop carrying political ads. Facebook has taken another route and has pledged efforts to deal with misinformation rather than banning political ads. However, it is still fact-checking ads run by politicians, thus drawing fire from candidates running in the 2020 presidential election.
In a statement to Reuters, Bill Russo, deputy communications director for the Biden campaign said, "We appreciate that Twitter recognizes that they should not permit disproven smears, like those from the Trump campaign, to appear in advertisements on their platform."
He further stated, "It would be unfortunate to suggest that the only option available to social media companies to do so is the full withdrawal of political advertising, but when faced with a choice between ad dollars and the integrity of our democracy, it is encouraging that, for once, revenue did not win out."
On the other hand, Brad Parscale, the man-in-charge for Trump's re-election campaign, stated that "Twitter's move is an attempt to silence conservatives" and "a very dumb decision" for the company's shareholders.
"Will Twitter also be stopping ads from biased liberal media outlets who will now run unchecked as they buy obvious political content meant to attack Republicans," Parscale said in a statement. "This is yet another attempt to silence conservatives, since Twitter knows President Trump has the most sophisticated online program ever known."
A final note. This isn’t about free expression. This is about paying for reach. And paying to increase the reach of political speech has significant ramifications that today’s democratic infrastructure may not be prepared to handle. It’s worth stepping back in order to address.
To recall, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg earlier this month defended the company's policy regarding ads, saying that it did not want to stifle political speech.
Jasmine Enberg, a senior analyst for research company eMarketer in a statement to Reuters, stated that Twitter's decision "is in stark contrast to Facebook," "And, given the nature of the platform, people, publishers and politicians will still use Twitter to discuss politics organically, meaning that it won't fully solve the problem of misinformation."

Many Android devices now come with Google's Messages app preloaded. If not, the app is readily available for everyone to download via the Play Store. Considering that the company has expanded its Rich Communication Services (RCS) platform to India, it is a good time to start using the app.
As of now, only a limited number of carriers have the RCS platform enabled in India, however, the latest beta version of the app brings RCS support to all across the globe -- irrespective of which telecom service provider you use.
Google Messages app with RCS enabled allows users to chat with their contacts and send them images, GIFs, emoji, stickers, videos and audio messages. RCS also lets users send and receive messages over Wi-Fi or mobile data.
To get RCS support on your Google Messages app, you need to install the Messages beta version 5.2.051 from the Play Store. After you have downloaded the app, you need to get the Activity Launcher on your Android device, which is also available on the Play Store. This will then let you configure the RCS protocol on the Messages app manually.
To configure the RCS protocol manually, you need to turn off Wi-Fi and switch to mobile data and then open the Activity Launcher app. After the app opens up you need to tap the dropdown from the top bar and select Activities option. There you will find the Messages' app, open that and scroll down until you see the Set RCS Flags option. Now tap the ACS Url option and then select 'http://rcs-acs-prod-us.sandbox.google.com/.' Then tap OTP Pattern to select 'Your\sMessenger\sverification\scode\sis\sG-(\d{6})' option. Now hit apply.
After following the above steps, remove the Messages app from your recent apps. After which when you open the app it will show you a pop-up to enable the RCS-backed chat features.
